Event: New England 200 (Round 16 of 35)
Series: NASCAR Nationwide Series
Location: New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon (1.058-mile oval)
Start/Finish: 4th/1st (Running, completed 200 of 200 laps)

For the second straight year, Kyle Busch drove his No. 18 Z-Line Designs Toyota Camry to victory in the New England 200 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon. The Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) driver is the first to win multiple Nationwide Series races in the track’s 24-race history, dating back to its inaugural event on July 15, 1990.
“These guys did a great job for me. I can’t thank Z-Line Designs and Jim and Monica Sexton (Z-Line Designs owners) enough,” said Busch, who won last year’s race at New Hampshire as part of a nine-win season that culminated with the Nationwide Series championship. “It’s fun to come out here with these guys and race in the Nationwide Series. What a great race, and it’s a lot of fun with these cars. Can’t wait to keep racing these things.”

Bell wins Spectator Drags
by Caleb Lamb
OXFORD, Maine – It was a wild night at Oxford Plains Speedway under a full moon as Motor Mayhem #2 sponsored by Allen’s Coffee Flavored Brandy came to the track.
The Spectator Drags were the first competition of the night. All cars must have an inspection sticker and be street legal, but they certainly performed like high-powered racing machines. The cars ranged from a VW Bus to a 1998 Pontiac Firebird, but at the end of the preliminaries, only Scott Merrill in a light blue 1994 Honda Accord and Thom Bell in a purple and black 1986 Ford Mustang remained. Bell won the coin toss and chose to start in the inside lane in the best two out of three championship round. He took the first race and then swept past Merrill on the backstretch to win round two and claim the first place trophy.

Heartbreaking 13th Place Finish For DJ Shaw At NHMS
Loudon, N.H. (June 26, 2010): DJ Shaw was on top of the world halfway through the K&N Pro Series East 125-lap event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway Friday afternoon. After starting second in the field, Shaw led 19 laps in the first half and was saving his No. 60 Precision JLM Chevrolet for a shot at the win in the end. However, after pitting following a lap 81 caution, Shaw lost the handling on his machine and dropped back to a disappointing 13th place finish.
“I wanted to ride and save the equipment for the end,” said Shaw. “We changed right side tires and it was really tight. We lost 4/10th’s after having old tires. Everybody else gained an extra tenth by putting them on.”

Kobyluck Finishes 12th At The ‘Magic Mile’
Loudon, N.H. (June 26, 2010): After starting 22nd in the field for the New England 125 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Matt Kobyluck had nowhere to go but forward. After 20 laps, Kobyluck had picked off ten positions in the No. 40 Mohegan Sun Casino Chevrolet and looked to be a solid contender for a top-five finish. However, a long green flag run changed everything and Kobyluck had to settle with a 12th place finish.
“We were really, really free,” explained Kobyluck. “The car was rotating really good through the center of the corner but I could not even breathe on the gas coming up off so that hurt us. I’d get into the corner really good and just watch everyone drive away from me. We were going to pit early to try and fix that, but we said ‘nah, we’ll just wait until our fuel stop’, but that never came because we ran until lap 80 or something until the caution came out.”
The Mohegan Sun race team never found the right tire combination for qualifying, and posted a lap of 31.099 seconds to earn the 22nd place starting position. Rules stated that teams could not work on their car post qualifying so they anticipated pitting early to adjust on the car. Before lap 10, Kobyluck had worked his way up to 16th and by lap 17, when the second caution flag flew, he was 13th. The race resumed at lap 21 with Kobyluck moving up to 12th. The race stayed green for the next 60 laps.
“The car tightened up a bit the more we ran and the more we burned off some fuel,” he said. “But it was still really free. I just drove it like that because we had good track position and there was no reason to pit under green.”
Kobyluck brought the Mohegan Sun Chevrolet down pit road multiple times for adjustments, fuel, and tires.
“We kept coming in to make adjustments and it didn’t fix it so we’d come back in,” said Kobyluck. “We’re investigating it now and we found something wrong with the left front spring.”
Kobyluck maintained his position for the remainder of the 125 lap race to conclude the event with a 12th place finish. The K&N Pro Series East race can be viewed on SPEED this Thursday, July 1 at 6 p.m.
Kobyluck returns to action next Saturday, July 3 at Lime Rock Park.
“We’ll keep doing what we know to do and go to Lime Rock and try to get a win there!” Kobyluck concluded.
