Todd Petschke and Matt Morrill Break Through at Big Daddy’s Speedbowl

Mid-State Trucking Modified driver Todd Petschke (09) finally put together a second half to a race that matched his first half. He led from Green to Checkers and took home the big Ed Tobin Car Crushing trophy for Sunday, July 25. It was a wild Modified feature with lots of bumping and banging that will have a number of drivers doing repairs for next week. Trever Rocke (63) survived to finish second, with Chad Turck (56) taking third.

Chief Starter and track Educational Director Ray Moses said that the word of the week was “Disappointment,” and this was something felt by a good many drivers this Sunday afternoon. One was James Capps of the Mods, whose #64 was running near the front much of the feature, but was involved in a wreck late in the race.

Big Daddy’s also welcomed the Granite State Mini-Sprints Club back to Wentworth. Series points leader Larry Sheridan (6) won the 500cc feature, followed by “Racey” Lacey Hansen (33) and Zach Hebert (2). In the 600cc division Johnny Chesnut (75L) took advantage of a late-race opportunity to grab his first checkered flag of the season. Luke Greenwood (89) and Matt Robie (75) rounded out the top three.

Jamie Bezanson (13 1/2) took his second Mike’s Automotive Late Model feature in a row, followed by “Dangerous” Dan Collins (4) and Brad Shanks (8).

Alicia Smith (88) captured her second feature win of the year in the Camaro Heaven Bandit division, with second and third going to Scott Blake (21) and Marcus “Animal” Jenness (19). Smith and Blake swapped the lead back and forth, but ran a clean race and each complimented the other from Victory Lane.

Matt Morrill (9) of Center Harbor, NH also broke through to get his first feature win of the year in the OE Parts Direct Mini-Stock division. Josh Sunn (11) had to settle for second, with Kevin Harran (57) taking third.

The Cutting Edge Graphix/Keyser Trucking Super Street feature was won by Derek O’Hearn (14), who led Ray Johnson (79) and Mark Brown (47) at the stripe.

Retired Pastor H. Rae Cameron from Moultonboro, NH gave the invocation, and Emily Clogston of Warren, NH sang the National Anthem. Super Street driver Ray Johnson was the Kid’s Club driver of the week, and had a great time with the kids, letting them strap into his race car
