TRAVIS BEALE TAKES 95 LITTLE ENDURO FEATURE
Travis Beale of Hampden won the caution free Little Enduro feature at Speedway 95 Wednesday night, but it wasn’t until lap 14 of the 20 lap event that he went into the lead. Donny Blanchard of Bangor led the early laps until Andrew Crosby of Hermon took the lead on lap 9. Crosby held the lead until lap 14 when Beale went by him and held the lead for the last 6 laps. Blanchard was able to get back by Crosby to finish in second, with Crosby ending up third. Newburgh’s Darren Durrell came from the back of the 21 car field to finish fourth with Brock Worster of Kingman finishing fifth.
Ed Cobb of LaGrange came from his fourth place starting position to win the Big Enduro feature by about 10 car lengths over pole sitter Shawn MacNevin of Hudson. MacNevin finished in second after a spirited battle with Roger Smith Jr. of Clifton who finished in third. Smith and MacNevin swapped the lead several times, with MacNevin slipping by Smith with two laps to go to take the runner up spot. Alvin MacNevin finished in fourth after a trip to the pits early in the race placed him at the rear of the pack on a restart. Adam Gardner of Bangor finished in fifth.
Shelby Kimball of Cornville continued to be the driver to beat in the Ladies division as she again won the evening’s qualifier and feature event. Kimball started fourth but was in the lead by the end of lap one. Becky Elston of Carmel battled with Kimball for the top spot for the first few laps, but was unable to complete a pass for the lead. Elston settled for the second place trophy for the night with 2009 champion Rhonda Wilbur of Hermon finishing third, Chelsea Young of Winterport chased Wilbur for the entire distance but was unable to take the third spot away from her and finished fourth.
Peter Drake of Corinth survived an early race battle with Jim Carr Jr. of Clifton after he went from his fourth place starting spot into the lead on lap 1. Carr challenged Drake for the entire race, but could never get past him for the lead. Carr finished in second with Bucksport’s Dana Harlow finishing third. Mike Lynch of Winterport started on the pole, but ended up in fourth when the checkered flag fell. Outside pole sitter Jeff Overlock Jr. of Hermon was fourth with Brewer’s Anthony Moore in fifth. Carr won the truck qualifier.
In the Stars of Tomorrow, William McCullough of Kenduskeag won his fifth feature of the season after taking the lead from pole sitter Matt Kimball of Cornville on lap 5. It was all McCullough from that point on as Ryan Modery of Hermon was also able to get by Kimball to post a second place finish. Kimball finished in third with Ricky Pease Jr. of Detroit and D.C. Alexander of Carmel rounding out the top five. McCullough also won the evening’s 10 lap qualifier.
