ThompsonTHOMPSON, CT. The much anticipated UNOH SHOWDOWN is set for this weekend at the Thompson International Speedway. Race fans have been looking forward to this first-time-ever event all season long.

The UNOH SHOWDOWN is unique in that the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour will share the same bill for the first time in north. Each Tour will compete in its own 125-lap feature event for purses in excess of $53,000.00 for each Tour. Upon completion of the two 125s, the field for the 50-Lap, $50,000.00+ SHOWDOWN will be assembled and the stage will be set for what could be one of the greatest battles in NASCAR Whelen Modified racing history. The driver who emerges as the victor will pocket some $15,000.00.

RAINS WASH OUT RACES AT THOMPSON

THOMPSON, CT. The August 25th race schedule at the Thompson International Speedway was cancelled today due to the forecast of thunder storms and heavy rains. The decision, made by track owner Don Hoenig, came early in the day so that competitors and fans alike would not head for the speedway only to find themselves heading home upon their arrival. The scheduled race program had all six of Thompson’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions along with the Valenti Modified Racing Series.

Stefanik Brings Winning Ways to Thompson on Thursday Night
Preece Scores Sunoco Mod Win; O’Sullivan, Douton, Boss & Field Victorious

Thompson, CT (August 18, 2011): Mike Stefanik triumphed over the competition and Thompson International Speedway beat the weather for an action-packed night of racing action. With weather and Ryan Preece bearing down, Stefanik of Coventry, RI, was flawless to score the victory in the Tour-Type Modified Special. Stefanik had to hold off another Thompson winner to visit victory lane. Preece jumped out of his winning Sunoco Modified to run second to Stefanik in the event. The Sunoco Modified victory earlier in the evening was Preece’s third at Thompson in 2011.

LINDEMAN WINS THOMPSON

Andy Lindeman of Poestenkill, NY, scored the victory in 20-lap feature event for the visiting New England Truck Series. Howard Payne was strong right from the drop of the green flag. He cruised out to a comfortable lead over Andy Lindeman. The margin was erased after an incident on the front stretch that involved Keith Chapman. Lindeman got the jump on the restart and was the new leader on lap five. Duane Knoll ran comfortably in third over a brewing battle between Allen Coates, driving in relief of his son Corey, and Jason Lafayette. Pitkat Scores Sunoco Modified Win; Lindeman Honored in NETS

Thompson, CT (August 11, 2011): The Late Model division took the center stage at Thompson International Speedway on Thursday Night with their 40-lap extra distance race and Tommy O’Sullivan of Springfield, MA, was the star. Woody Pitkat of Stafford, CT, returned to top-form and to victory lane in the Sunoco Modifieds. Andy Lindeman of Poestenkill, NY, was tops in the touring New England Truck Series. Derek Ramstrom of Worcester, MA scored his fourth win of the season in the Super Late Models.
