In his rookie season, Moffitt drove for Andy Santerre Motorsports. His stats are impressive, in 34 starts, Moffitt has earned an seven wins, four pole positions, 20 top-5 and 25 top-10 finishes. Even more impressive is he has never finished worse than 3rd in the Championship points standings.

“I’m really looking forward to getting the 2012 season under way,” said Brett Moffitt. “I’m very excited to be teamed up with Hattori Racing and crew chief Dave McCarty. Everyone has been working extremely hard to get the cars ready for Sergio and I to get ready for the season and we are all looking forward to hitting the track at Bristol.”

Moffitt will join teammate Sergio Pena at Hattori Racing Enterprises in 2012. HRE is preparing for its first year of full-time competition. Owner, Shigeaki Hattori, is a Championship-winning former racer. He earned the Formula Toyota title in 1994 and competed in the Indy Racing League’s Indy Lights and IndyCar Series . He also competed in the NASCAR Camping World Series. Born in Okayama, Japan, Hattori currently resides in Cornelius, NC and knows what it takes to win. “People in an organization are the key to the organization’s success . If you hire the right people with knowledge and experience, success will follow,” explains Hattori. I am excited about the addition of both of these young and talented drivers to our team. There are no limits to what we can accomplish this season.”

Setting the foundation for Hattori Racing Enterprises is four-time NASCAR K&N Pro Series Champion Andy Santerre, who will manage the race team and who was Moffitt’s former crew chief in 2009.

“I am excited to have Brett at HRE.” Hattori Racing General Manager, Andy Santerre stated. “He is an incredible driving talent and has matured behind the wheel in the last two years. He is more than capable of winning the championship. He and Dave (McCarty) should work well together and make a good team.”

Crew Chief, Dave McCarty has over 20 years experience in all types of racing – NASCAR Nationwide Series, Camping World Truck Series, ARCA, ASA and K&N Pro Series East.

“One of the reasons I wanted to join HRE was the group of people that Shigeaki and Andy have assembled. Adding Brett to join with Sergio creates an awesome team of drivers.” McCarty explained. “Brett has shown he has the ability to win and compete for a championship. I’m excited to have the opportunity to further him in his racing career and look forward to on-track success for him and the entire HRE team.”

HRE will field Toyota Camry’s with manufacturer backing from Toyota Racing Development for both Brett Moffitt in the #11 and Sergio Pena in the #1. “We are thrilled to have Toyota on board,” stated Hattori, who has had a long-standing relationship with the brand. “Toyota cars won every race in the series last year and I don’t expect this season to be any different.” Several other companies will be involved as well. AISIN, a world-wide supplier of automotive parts and systems; AISIN AW, who has a large facility in Durham, NC and who manufactures automatic transmissions and car navigation systems; and ADVICS, who helps advance cars with innovative brake systems.

HRE is located in a state-of-the-art building owned by Germain Racing in Mooresville, NC and was designed by Hattori so he could continue to enjoy American stock car racing while developing young, talented drivers.

LOUDON, N.H. — Brett Moffitt kept his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East title hopes alive with a rain-shortened win in the New Hampshire 125 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway Friday.

Moffitt led a race-high 53 laps en route to his seventh career win and first at the “Magic Mile.” The Michael Waltrip Racing development driver cut the points lead of Joe Gibbs Racing’s Max Gresham to 21 entering the season finale Friday, Sept. 30 at Dover International Speedway.

Gresham, who had a 65-point lead entering the race weekend, finished seventh Friday. The race was called after 78 laps due to rain and darkness.

Posts Fourth Place Finish In West Series Race

Newton, IA (September 7, 2009): Brett Moffitt waged a battle in the closing laps of the Central Iowa Building and Construction Trades 125 at Iowa Speedway Friday night to post a fourth place finish in No. 4 Andy Santerre Motorsports Chevrolet. Moffitt, making a rare appearance in the NASCAR Camping World Series West, pressured Max Gresham throughout the closing laps in his bid for third place but just fell short at the checkers.

“It came down to the end of the race and Brett caught Max (Gresham),” said Santerre. “We really came on in the last 25 laps. I told Brett to give it everything he had. He got under Max, but couldn’t quite clear him. They raced side-by-side for the last ten laps. We would get beside him in the turn, but Max would beat us down the straightaway. It was good racing and they put on a good show.”

Moffitt was among the six fastest cars in both practice sessions, but had to start 11th after posting a qualifying time of 24.339 seconds.

“The track slowed down a lot. We took the same car we had there in the spring for the combination race, but qualifying speeds were almost a second slower than it was back in May,” said Santerre. “The set-up we had was really good. We were close, but we never got the car balanced perfectly.”

Moffitt moved up to ninth at the drop of the green and settled into seventh by the halfway mark. The second half of the race was the most productive for Moffitt, who moved up to fourth by the time the race reached lap 100.

With eventual winner David Mayhew setting a torrid pace, Moffitt had to shoot for a top-three. When the car came in, Moffitt took off and immediately started challenging Gresham for third. It was a 20-lap battle that highlighted the closing laps of the race.

“This was the car that we wrecked at New Hampshire, and it had a new front clip and a new body. It was the first time out with it. We were pretty happy with how it ran and the set up that we had,” said Moffitt. “Obviously, I would have liked to win, but a top-five finish is nothing to balk at especially considering we had to come up through from 11th.”

Moffitt returns to action in the NASCAR Camping World Series East at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Friday, September 18th. For more information on Brett Moffitt or Andy Santerre Motorsports, visit www.brettmoffitt.com or www.andysanterremotorsports.com.

Harrisburg, N.C. (August 31, 2009): Andy Santerre Motorsports together with driver Brett Moffitt have announced that they will compete in this weekend’s Central Iowa Building and Construction Trades 125 at Iowa Speedway, a NASCAR Camping World Series West event. Moffitt will be driving the No. 4 Chevrolet sponsored by Karl Chevrolet. This will be Moffitt’s third start at the track closest to his Grimes, Iowa hometown.

“We’re really excited to be heading back to Iowa Speedway,” said Moffitt. “The last time we were there we had a really competitive car, but we got tight in the last 20 laps or so and finished sixth. I know we can go there and run good so I’m really looking forward to it. I’ll have my friends and family there, and I really think that Iowa is one of the best tracks I’ve gone to with the Camping World Series. I can’t think of a better place to give them a win!”

Moffitt is currently sixth in the NASCAR Camping World Series East point standings with one win, four top-five, and seven top-10 finishes. Only 14 points separate him from the fourth and fifth place drivers as the series comes to its final two-race stretch that kicks off at New Hampshire Motor Speedway later this month. The extra seat time at Iowa should be an advantage for the 17-year-old driver.

“Our last two races are on tracks a mile or bigger,” said Moffitt. “Iowa isn’t quite a mile, but its close enough. The seat time is what’s important. When you’re on track you get a momentum, you get better. We’re still within striking distance of the championship in the East Series so anything I can do to get closer to that, I will.”

Moffitt has cemented a reputation as a go-getter in the NASCAR Camping World Series East. He’s earned a place in the record books as the youngest driver in series history to win a pole, win a race, and lead the series point standings. But this weekend will mark his debut in a West Series stand-alone event.

“I raced with these guys back at the combination race with the East Series in May,” said Moffitt. “Everyone I raced with was clean, and I raced them clean. There are some talented drivers in the field and I look forward to racing with them again.”

The Central Iowa Building and Construction Trades 125 takes place under the lights with an 8 p.m. start time on Friday, September 4th. (July 28, 2009): Brett Moffitt has spent the last several weeks uncertain about his future in the NASCAR Camping World Series East, but despite the lack of sponsorship, Moffitt will continue on to the Edge Hotel 150 at Adirondack International Speedway with ASM Motorsports this weekend. While the uncertainty lingers on, Moffitt will attempt to add another win to his resume by mastering the tricky 9/10th’s mile.

“We’ve got a good shot at being successful in this series – meaning we can win the championship. We’ve proven our success with our performances and our win,” said Moffitt. “Right now we’re doing everything we can to find a marketing partner, but we’re only set as far as this race. I don’t know what the future holds for us after that. I wish I did.”

Winning is important – not just when you’re searching for a sponsor. Winning, after all, is why Moffitt does this. He’s quiet, but extremely competitive. He’s fan-friendly off the track and aggressive on it. Adirondack, he’s told, will be a challenge, and he’s ready to rise to the occasion.

“I haven’t been to Adirondack, but everyone keeps telling me how important a rhythm is there,” said Moffitt. “I think we’ll be good. We just have to worry about our own race and be there at the end.”

The visit to Adirondack International Speedway will be the series eighth visit to the track, and Andy Santerre Motorsports is banking on their previous success coupled with Moffitt’s natural ability behind the wheel to help them achieve their goal of victory lane. In seven events, the team has posted two wins, six top-five, and seven top-10 finishes at Adirondack. Santerre won the inaugural edition of the race in 2002 and his development driver, Sean Caisse, won in 2006.

“I have some of the best people in the business surrounding me,” said Moffitt. “I have 100 percent confidence in the car and the team. I know when I get there I’ll have a car that is capable of winning that race.”

Loudon, N.H. (June 27, 2009): Brett Moffitt has been on an upward climb in the NASCAR Camping World Series East, but Friday afternoon bad luck struck the 16-year-old driver that resulted in a 27th place finish in the Heluva Good! Summer 125 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Moffitt was running third when a tire blew on his No. 44 Castle Packs Power/EJP/Brettmoffitt.com Chevrolet and sent him into the wall in turn four. The incident caused enough damage that the Andy Santerre Motorsports entry had to park the car for the day.
“There was no warning or anything. The tire just went out,” said Moffitt.
The weekend kicked off for Moffitt with a qualifying effort of 124.106 mph (30.690 seconds) – a speed fast enough to earn a starting position in row two in the fourth position.
When the green flag dropped, Moffitt took the third position away from Kevin Swindell and quickly settled in behind the leaders. A long green flag run developed with more than a second separating Moffitt from the second place driver of Ryan Truex. As the laps ticked off and the leaders hit lapped traffic, Moffitt was able to close up the distance to a single carlength.
Despite his progress, however, trouble was just around the corner.
“The car was really, really good. Andy has always run good here. It was just a little bit tight, but we could have made a couple of adjustments during the pit stops and that would have really helped us out,” Moffitt said.
At lap 39, Moffitt was coming around turn three when he suddenly slid up the banking and hit the wall. The 16 year old driver brought the No. 44 back to pit road, but due to the damage, could not maneuver the car behind pit road wall.
“The right front rotor broke. We were trying to get it behind the wall and the right front was locking up so we couldn’t turn,” he explained. A tow truck was sent out to get the car and Moffitt was done for the day.
Up next for the NASCAR Camping World Series East is Thompson International Speedway on July 11th. The race, which marks the seventh event on the schedule, could mark a turning point for the team.
“We’re still sponsorless and we only have one more race covered,” said Moffitt. “Our plan was always to run the first seven races and hope to find a partner for the remainder of the season. At this point, it’s just Thompson and that’s it.”
