Naples ME (June 12) The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) has three big days of racing on tap for this weekend with events in Maine, New Hampshire and Georgia; four of the series five racing divisions will see action as the summer racing season gets underway in earnest.

First up are the PASS Mods with round two of the Twin State Series on tap at Lee USA Speedway. Andy Shaw won the opening round in a thriller over PASS South ace Jay Fogleman and young Sulo Burbank. Shaw leads the series back to Lee USA on Friday evening for another 40 lap shootout at the Route 125 oval. The PASS Mod drivers will join in for Autograph Night at the speedway. Post time at Lee is 7:15 P.M.

Saturday night the PASS South super late model teams get back on track for race number six of their 2009 schedule, the Dixie 150 at Senoia Georgia’s’ New Senoia Speedway. It’s the first time ever for the PASS super late models at the fast 3/8 mile.

Ben Rowe has a 26 point lead in the South standings over Ryan “The Kid” Blaney and two wins under his belt. Preston Peltier is coming on strong in pursuit of the title; Peltier is tied with Rowe in the win column and has begun to narrow the point gap between him and the top two. Heath Hindman and Justin Wakefield both have a solid shot at the championship and any one of the five could land in victory lane Saturday night. Clay Jones, Mark Gibson, Jay Fogleman, Trey Mitchell and Bubba Pollard are but a few of the contenders that you can expect to see Saturday night at New Senoia when the PASS stars come out.

New Senoia will host a Friday June 19 practice session from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The back gate opens at 2:30 PM. PASS super late model time trials roll off at 6:00 PM Saturday June 20, and racing gets under way at 7:30 PM.

One of the popular travel sites says that it is 1341 miles from Senoia Georgia to Unity Maine, but that’s where the PASS officiating team will be come Sunday afternoon. The NAPA 150 at Unity Raceway will feature 150 laps for the PASS North super late models, 75 for the PASS Sportsman and 40 laps for the PASS Mods.

Ben Rowe has climbed atop the PASS North super late model standings after back to back wins at White Mountain Motorsports Park and New Brunswick’s Speedway 660 by a slim margin. He holds a two point lead over Adam Bates (1074-1072) and three over Johnny Clark (1071). Derek Ramstrom (1052) and Chris Staples (1037) lurk in fourth and fifth, ready to strike. So for the first time in PASS history, one team leads both the North and South super late model standings.

There’s two for one discount coupons available for the NAPA 150 at participating northern New England NAPA retailers, so stop by your local NAPA store, pick up a coupon and take Dad (and mom) to the races for just ten dollars each!

Naples, ME 6/15/09- So far, the month of June has been a quiet month for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South super late models with just one event marking the 2009 calendar; however, that one event on June 20th donning the name Dixie 150 at New Senoia Raceway located just south of Atlanta, Georgia may be the turning point for many this 2009 racing season. The word “new” in the speedway’s moniker couldn’t be more fitting as it will mark the first time in the series four year existence to visit the 3/8th mile high banked track.

Another “new” will be the fact that a majority of the championship contenders have never competed at the Georgia speed plant leaving the door wide open for all in attendance. So far this season Ben Rowe and Preston Peltier have been the drivers to beat with each one picking up two victories so far but it will be Rowe who has his work cut out for him this week as the Maine native who competes full time on both the PASS North and South schedules will travel from the north’s farthest race north in Geary, New Brunswick Canada to the south’s farthest race south in Senoia, Georgia to compete in the Dixie 150. While it’s been Peltier and Rowe winning races, youngster Ryan Blaney has been Mr. Consistency finishing in the top ten in all five PASS South series starts putting him second in the championship points standings just twenty six points behind leader Rowe.

While the New Senoia Raceway will be new to many, a driver who knows the ins and outs of the place is Bubba Pollard. Pollard, who will be making his 2009 PASS South season debut lives just a few miles from the Senoia facility and has competed in more than his fair share of races at the place. Drivers such as Trey Mitchell, Devin Jones, and Jeff Fultz are all expected to make their return to PASS South competition at Senoia making Pollard not the only one to consider for taking home the hardware at night’s end.

While the New Senoia race may be all about the super late models, the PASS truck series has reached their mid-season break and won’t be back into action until Sunday July 5th at the Hickory Motor Speedway. The first year touring series under the PASS banner has produced some of the best racing so far this season. Each and every time the trucks have hit the track Michael Cooper, Ben Ebeling, and Jody Measamer have produced side by side battles all race long.

The surprise of the year however may be the quick development of thirteen year old Clint King who went from struggling with the bigger and heavier trucks in his first race of the year at Dillon Motor Speedway to winning his first ever PASS truck series race at Coastal Plains just a few weeks ago. Regardless of the four drivers listed above, all series drivers have been chasing down Asheboro, NC driver Grant Davidson who has already collected three wins this season and sits at the top of the championship standings with just five races remaining.

The Dixie 150 at the New Senoia Raceway kicks off Saturday June 20th with racing set to begin at 7:30. For directions and ticket information for the Dixie 150, contact the speedway at 770-599-6161 or visit www.newsenoiaraceway.com.
