Winchester, NH:  A huge crowd gathered at Monadnock Speedway this past Saturday celebrating the 4th of July at the ¼ high banked speedway. The True Value Modified Racing Series came to town with Kirk Alexander taking the victory. Mini Stock Kim Rivet celebrated her first career win as Bob Bedaw took his first of the season checkers in the Super Stock event. Russ Hersey cruised into victory lane in the Outlaw Pro feature.  Heath Renaud and Dan Yagmin won the Enduros.

Mini Stocks came rolling out with Joe Rogers leading the field to the green.  By lap three, Chris Davis took the lead as Rogers felt pressure from Kim Rivet for second.   On lap six, a caution displayed for Beth Adams and Ron Normandin. On the restart, Davis continued to lead as Rivet battled him for the top spot. Chris McTaggart worked on Rogers for third. On lap sixteen, another caution flew as Rogers and McTaggart spun in turn three.  On the restart, Davis held on despite pressure from Rivet as Jamey King and Tim Jackson challenged each other for third. Five laps to go, Rivet put the heat on Davis as the battle continued between King, Jackson and Derek Bergquist for third.  Lap twenty two, King and Jackson made contact bringing out the third caution of the night setting the field up for a three lap shoot out. On  lap twenty three made her move and took over the lead as Davis felt the presence of Bergquist. On the final lap, Rivet held on despite pressure from Bergquist for the win followed by Davis, Dennis Wallace and Ricky Bernard.

Craig Cashman brought the field to the start side by side with Bob Bedaw. Bedaw wated no time and took over the lead by lap two. Andy Brooks sat in third. On lap five, Bedaw showed the way as Brooks and Nancy Muni battled for second. Lap ten, Brooks looked to take the lead away as Ed Brehio III passed Jeremy Sorel for fourth. Half way to go, Bedaw continued to lead as Brooks and Brehio battled for second. Muni protected her fourth spot from Sorel. On lap eighteen, a caution fcame out for Jeff Wright. On the restart, Bedaw had a great start as Brehio III made the pass on Brooks for second. Matt Mead followed Brehio III and took over third. As the laps winded down, Mead gave his all to make the pass for the lead as Jeremy Sorel put the pressure on Brehio III for third. At the checkers, Bedaw held off Mead for the win. Brehio III came in third despite the last lap dash from Sorel. Bill Johnston followed for fifth.

The Outlaw pros took to the track for their forty lap event with Steve Gauthier on the pole. At the green, Gauthier held the lead as Barry Gray followed in second. Brandon Ovitt felt the heat early from Russ Hersey for third. On lap three, a caution slowed the field as Ovitt and Mike Parks made contact collecting Toby Wells and Aric Blanchette. On the restart, Gray too mover the lead with Hersey following leaving Gauthier in third. On lap six, another caution was displayed as Gauthier spun. Gray held the lead on the restart for one more lap until Hersey made the pass. Bryon Baker sat in third with Parks putting the heat on him for position. Half way to go, Hersey had a comfortable lead as Baker and Parks continued to battle for second. Gray sat in fourth followed by Ovitt. Ten laps to go,  Baker and Parks continued to challenge each other as Parks looked to the high side to make the pass. On the final lap, Hersey cruised into victory lane as Baker held off Parks for second. Gray and Ovitt followed for fourth and fifth.

Barry Schonborg sat on the pole for the Full Size Enduro competition. On lap two, Jared Edson took over the top spot as Schonborg settled into second. On lap ten, Edson developed a good lead as Randy Rameau caught Schonborg and attempted to make the pass for second.  Half way to go, Schonborg continued to hold off Rameau as Dan Yagmin was n the back bumper of Rameau for third. Thirty laps in the book, Edson remained to lead as Yagmin gained gorund in catching the leader. Jeff Kirley closed in Schonborg for fourth. Ten laps to go, Yagmin caught Edson as Rameau continued to run third. Seven laps to go, Yagmin made the pass as Edson fell back to sixth and eventually pulled off the track. At the wave of the checkers, it was Yagmin followed by Rameau, Schonborg, Kirley and Joe Ethier.

Julia Raymond brought the 4-cylinder Enduros to the green. Raymond felt the pressure early as Adam Houle ran bumper to bumper with her for the lead. On lap twelve, the two ran wheel to wheel with Houle taking the lead a few laps later. Heath Renuad moved into third. Lap twenty, Adam Houle continued to lead as Renaud put the heat for the top spot. Raymond sat in third attempting to get through heavy lap traffic. Half way to go, Renaud was on the back bumper of Adam Houle as Josh Houle took over third. Ten laps to go, Renaud made the pass for the lead a Houle contended  with lap cars. Dick Houle and Josh Houle battled for third. At the checkers, it was Renaud followed by Adam Houle, Dick Houle, Josh Houle and Eric Pomasko.

This Saturday, Monadnock Speedway will host a Tribute to Fred Barlow event. Barlow was a former competitor, crew chief and tech inspector who lost his battle to cancer a few months ago.  The Modifieds will make their return to the high banks along with Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, All Star Race Trucks, 4-cylinder Enduros and Full Size Enduros. Race time is at 6pm.
