New England Dragway next stop for Can-Am RMR Series,
Presented by the New England Dodge Dealers

DERRY, N.H. (Aug. 1, 2008) - While most folks equate a 1/4-mile
asphalt dragway with tire-smoking, lightning quick hot rods, the
sounds of a different type of performance engine will soon echo from
the famed New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire.
The roar and excitement of ATV racing will fill the air as Rock Maple
Racing (RMR) gets set for Round 7 on the 10-race 2008 Can-Am Series
schedule on Sunday, August 10.
Gates open for racers at 6 a.m., while spectator gates will open at 8
a.m. Racing will get under way promptly at 9 a.m. Admission is $10 for
adults and $5 for children ages 6-10, while children age 5 and under
will be admitted free with a paying adult.
The day’s program will begin with qualifying action for all classes.
These qualifying races allow riders to learn quick lines around the
challenging track. It all builds to an exciting climax at roughly 1
p.m. as finals for all classes begin.
New this year for the Can-Am Series is a division between East and
West points races, much like RMR does with its snocross programs. This
makes it easier for teams to run for points titles without the added
expense of extra travel. This will be a points race for East series
teams.
Also new is the addition of a Five-round series for “Pit Bikes,” which
have become so popular in the last few years. There will be eight
classes, broken down for Pro and Amateur riders and for 10-inch or
12-inch wheel diameter. RMR will partner with the Pit Bike Racing
Association (PBRA) to bring this exciting new class into the mix.
In the series’ first six rounds of competition, former Canadian
national champion Jasmin Plante, Matt Pomeroy, James Stowell, Brian
Daigle, Jason Rayder and Luke Marios have all posted Pro division
victories. Plante swept the season opener at Hemond’s MX Park in
Minot, Maine, (May 11), Pomeroy and Stowell split the finals in Rounds
2 and 3 at Twister Valley (May 18) and Crow Hill Motor Sports Park
(June 1), Daigle and Rayder split the Pro finals in Round 4 at
Thornwood MX (June 22), while Marios swept Round 5 in Canaan, N.H., on
Sunday, July 13. Pomeroy also swept the Pro finals in Round 6 at New
York’s Thunder Ridge on July 27.
New England Dragway is the only 1/4-mile drag strip in New England. It
first opened on September 11, 1966, thanks to the efforts of the New
England Hot Rod Council. Since then, the track has evolved into one of
the nation’s premier drag racing facilities. New England Dragway hosts
the Amalie Oil IHRA North American Nationals each September, along
with a host of other national touring programs throughout the season.
RMR’s Can-Am series offers riders two separate divisions in which to
compete. The popular MX division is for rear-wheel-drive, race-bred
machines, while the Utility division is for entry-level riders with
4×4 or utility-style ATVs. A separate course is built at select events
for 4×4 competition, known as the QuadTerrain Challenge.
Rock Maple Racing is presented by your New England Dodge Dealers, who
urge you to stop by today and see the full line of 2008 cars and
trucks. Grab life by the horns! For more information, please visit us

Nostalgia Weekend Next at Speedbowl

Posted in: Latest News | | No Comments »>

WATERFORD, Conn. — The past mingles with the present at Waterford
Speedbowl’s annual Nostalgia Weekend. The Bowl’s Whelen All-American
Series divisions will be joined by the Northeastern Midget Association
amidst a gathering of historic racecars.

A 25-lap NEMA feature will share the Saturday night agenda with the
SK-Modifieds (35), Late Models (30), Sportsman (20) and Mini Stocks
(20). Cars from the New England Antique Racers (NEAR), Senior Tour
Antique Racers (STAR) and Atlantic Coast Old Timers (ACOT) will gather
on the midway for a “still show.”

The gates open at 4 PM and racing starts at 5.

On Sunday the antiques take to the track between noon and 3 pm. The
“coupes,” late model modifieds and post World War II Midgets make the
weekend a must for racing nostalgia buffs.

There will pit admissions only on Sunday. The grandstands will not be open.

NEMA is a perfect compliment to the weekend. The Speedbowl has been
hosting Modifieds and Midgets since it’s inception way back in 1951.
Starting in 1953, NEMA has run over 80 features at the Bowl.

Current point leader Randy Cabral, who turned laps in the 12.6 seconds
range in May, will be looking for a fourth straight NEMA feature.
Bobby Santos III, Joey Payne Jr., Nokie Fornoro, Mike Keeler, Jeff
Horn and Barry Kittredge also know their way to the Bowl’s Victory
Lane.

A successful run last week by Tyler Chadwick brought the list of SK
winners to nine this season. Dennis Gada takes a 38-point lead on
Keith Rocco into the action. Rocco, a four-time winner so far, will be
looking to improve on his national NASCAR Whelen All-American Series
lead as well. Doug Coby, Jeff Pearl, Jeffrey Paul, Rob Janovic Jr. and
Todd Ceravolo are other contenders.

Point leaders Bruce Thomas Jr. (Late Model), Al Stone III (Sportsman)
and Ken Cassidy Jr. (Mini Stock) all currently enjoy comfortable
edges. It is, however, hardly indicative of the competition. The four
Whelen All-American Series divisions have produced over 30 different
winners.

Port-A-Potty Grand Prix, Mayoral Showdown Coming to Thunder Road

Port-A-Potty Grand Prix, Mayoral Showdown Coming to Thunder Road

BARRE, VT ? The annual “Port-A-Potty Grand Prix” is coming to
Barre’s Thunder Road on Thursday night (July
31) as part of the Calkins Portables/WDEV Radio event beginning at
6:30pm. The Port-A-Potty race is, frankly,
just that ? a race for four specially modified outhouses to be pushed
down the Thunder Road frontstretch by teams
of stock car drivers and pit crew members. The first team and potty
across the finish line ? in this case, a roll
of tissue paper stretched the width of the track ? wins the Golden
Seat trophy and a year’s worth of bragging
rights.
“I’ve got a brand new one built and ready to go, just painted,”
said Power Shift Online Junkyard Warrior
point leader Jamie Davis of Wolcott, one of the four entered drivers.
Davis will be joined by Eric Williams,
Craig Bushey, and Lloyd Blakely. Each held their respective
division’s point lead following the Times Argus Mid-
Season Championship event two weeks ago, and were selected as the
potty drivers. Davis says there’s already been
some ribbing between he and Williams.
“Eric comes into my workplace for auto parts a lot, and he’s
already started the trash talk,” said
Davis. “He said he’ll start out running me clean, but he’s not afraid
to bang into me if he needs to in order to
win. I’d hate to get into a wreck with a Port-A-Potty, but this is a
big race. We may have to do it to win.”
Along with the Calkins Port-A-Potty Grand Prix is the
first-ever WDEV Radio Twin City Showdown between
generally mild-mannered Montpelier Mayor Mary Hooper and “The
Enforcer” Thom Lauzon, Barre City Mayor. The two
politicians will have a two-lap match race ? one lap on bicycles, the
preferred method of travel for Hooper, the
other in stock cars, Lauzon’s top choice. There’s no shortage of
verbal sparring in that event, either.
“Mayor Hooper said she’d put me in the wall if she had to,”
said Lauzon. “I told her she’ll have to catch
me to do it.”
Not to be outdone, there will also be a regular four-division
card of stock car action on Calkins/WDEV
Night, with the Late Model, NAPA Tiger Sportsman, Allen Lumber Street
Stock, and Power Shift Warrior cars in
action. Eric Williams continues to hold the Late Model lead by 30
points over Montpelier’s Phil Scott. Craig
Bushey slipped to second place in the Sportsman class after failing to
qualify for the Fisher/Federated Auto Parts
main event last week. East Montpelier’s Joey Laquerre now leads
Bushey by 22 markers.
Like Bushey, Lloyd Blakely lost the Street Stock point lead to
Plainfield youngster Jason Corliss after
Sunday’s M&M Beverage 50-lap event. Corliss leads the Street Stocks
by just one point, while Davis clings to a
three-point edge over Graniteville’s Travis Hull in the Warrior division.
General admission for the Calkins Portables/WDEV Radio event at
Thunder Road on Thursday, July 31 is just
$9.50 for adults, $3 for children (6-12), and only $20 for a family of
any two adults and any two kids. Gates
open at 5:00pm, racing begins at 6:30pm. For more information, call

South?s 3rd Annual South Carolina Clash

Dillon Motor Speedway Readies For PASS South’s 3rd Annual South Carolina Clash

CHARLOTTE, NC (July 29) ? As race fans and Pro All Stars Series (PASS)
South Super Late Model drivers head into South Carolina for race
number eight of the 2008 season, chances are they will see a sign
welcoming them to the state. Many of those signs will read WELCOME TO
SOUTH CAROLINA?SMILING FACES, BEAUTIFUL PLACES!

Well, that saying could not be more fitting for what will greet the
PASS South Super Late Models to Dillon Motor Speedway for the 3rd
Annual South Carolina Clash. A beautiful facility, great race fans,
fast PASS South Super Late Models, and a beauty queen look to make
this one of the more festive stops on the 2008 schedule. But, before
we look forward to this weekend, let’s look back at the first two
runnings of the South Carolina Clash.

The first incarnation of the South Carolina Clash was held at the then
newly repaved Florence Motor Speedway in 2006. And, for those who
were there, it would be a race none would soon forget. First off,
former two-time NASCAR All Pro Series champion Hal Goodson made his
return to Super Late Model competition driving his familiar blue #16
at one of the tracks that he cut his teeth on. Secondly, the race was
an absolute slugfest. As a matter of fact, only five cars were
running at the finish. That’s right, five cars! In the end, the late
Charlie Bradberry outlasted veterans Mike Rowe and Freddy Query to
take the win in that first South Carolina Clash. The race would prove
be Charlie’s last major Super Late Model win. He would lose his life
in a fatal highway accident just four months later after leaving
Talladega Superspeedway. Bradberry was only 24.

The 2nd running of the South Carolina Clash moved from the Pee Dee
Region of the state to the Upstate and the Anderson Motor Speedway. A
great field of PASS South Super Late Models attended, but the race
ended up being a battle between Ryan Lawler and former Anderson Motor
Speedway track champion Gary Greenwood. Lawler led from lap 33 to lap
108 when he was passed by Greenwood. Greenwood, exhausted by the hot
South Carolina sun, could not hold on and was passed back by Lawler
just two laps later. Lawler held on for his second win of the 2007
season and would eventually go on to become the PASS South champion

This year’s South Carolina Clash returns to the Pee Dee and looms to
be one of the most unpredictable yet. Only a handful of drivers have
ever raced or tested at the oddly shaped Dillon Motor Speedway. Turns
one and two are fairly broad while turns three and four are extremely
tight on the 4/10 mile track. No wonder?the track was originally
graded in the 1960’s by the same person who built the Darlington
Raceway, Harold Brasington.

Alex Haase, along with his PASS South car owner Kyle Busch, tested at
Dillon earlier this year and that could prove to be an advantage for
them. PASS South points leader Corey Williams looks to bounce back
from a disappointing run at Orange County’s Southern Sizzler. Perhaps
the driver with the most to gain is Perry Brown. Brown enters the
South Carolina Clash third in points with a win earlier this year at
Georgia’s Watermelon Capital Speedway. Why is that important? Many
drivers have said that Dillon and Watermelon Capital have very similar
characteristics. Another driver hoping to prove himself is local hot
shoe Jason Calhoun. Calhoun has numerous SuperTruck and Late Model
wins at Dillon and will be piloting the #0 driven earlier this year by
Strom Altman. PASS South regulars Heath Hindman, Mark Gibson, Alex
Fleming, Justin Wakefield and Logan Ruffin will all be seeking their
first wins of 2008.

In addition to the PASS South Super Late Models competing in the South
Carolina Clash, Dillon Motor Speedway will give back to their local
fans as they always do. Teen Miss South Carolina Leslie Hanna will be
on hand to sign autographs and serve as the Grand Marshal for the
South Carolina Clash. Miss Hanna will give the command to start
engines and will present trophies to Saturday night’s winners. Also,
in action will be the SuperTrucks, Chargers, and Street Stocks. And,
during intermission fans will get to participate in the “Penny
Pincher” race.

Action will kick off on Friday, August 1st with practice for the PASS
South Super Late Models. On Saturday, August 2nd, PASS South Super
Late Models and local divisions will be allowed to practice. PASS
South qualifying will be at approximately 5 PM, with racing at
approximately 7 PM. Dillon Motor Speedway is located in Dillon, SC,
just off Interstate 95 exit 191 on SC Highway 9.

Pomeroy sweeps Pro finals at Thunder Ridge for Can-Am RMR Series,
Presented by the New England Dodge Dealers

SOUTH EDMESTON, N.Y. (July 28, 2008) - Massachusetts-based ATV
racer Matt Pomeroy demonstrated his on-track skills in New York over
the weekend, sweeping the Pro division finals as Rock Maple Racing
(RMR) completed Round 6 on the 10-race 2008 Can-Am Series schedule
Sunday afternoon at historic Thunder Ridge.
Pomeroy, of Westfield, blasted his Polaris machine to victory
in Pro Unlimited over New York native Preston Young and New
Hampshire-based Brian Daigle. In the Pro Am final, Stowell followed
Pomeroy across the line with fellow Suzuki pilot Aaron Blouin third.
One of New York’s most well-know snowmobile racers also earned
a pair of wins at Thunder Ridge on Sunday. Veteran snocross rider
Brett Bender, of Colden, son of legendary ice oval racer and now
snocross super-team manager Tim Bender, rode his Polaris to victory in
the B Unlimited and the 16-24 year-old classes.
David Livingston finished second in B Unlimited with Brad
Burbine third, while Bruce Gaspardi and Livingston completed the
podium for the 16-24 age group. Bender is one of the hottest riders at
the Semi-Pro level in national snocross competition, a gifted athlete
with a bright future in professional snowmobile racing.
Livingston found redemption with his victory in the C Unlimited
final, making the trip from Bristol, Vermont seem worthwhile.
Livingston proved to be the streak-buster for Andrew Ruel, who
finished second Sunday. Glynn Desilva rode to a solid third on his
Suzuki to fill out the podium.
New York natives fared pretty well overall in their home state
Sunday, even among the younger riders. Jordan Storrs, of Fulton,
picked up a victory in the 0-90cc Limited final, while Cody Lyndaker,
of Croghan, picked up a win in the 0-90cc Unlimited class. Cody’s
brother Cole also rode to victory Sunday, out-gunning Richard Murtaugh
to claim the 0-70cc Modified final.
Murtaugh bounced back to claim the 0-50cc Senior class final
over Kolton Gillilan and Seth Reese.
Other winners Sunday at Thunder Ridge include Justin
Chamberland (Open Amateur); Dale Robinson (Production Lites); Petra
Undeborg (Women Unlimited); Kevin Watrobski (Plus 25); and George
Layton (Plus 35).
Rock Maple Racing would like to thank the entire staff at
Thunder Ridge for hosting the Can-Am series again in 2008. It is a
pleasure to sanction ATV competition at a track with such a rich
history.
Next up on the 2008 Can-Am RMR Series schedule is our debut at
the famed New England Dragway in Epping, NH, on August 10. For

WISCASSET RACEWAY PRESS RELEASE 7/28/08

LANDRY AND YOUNG DOUBLE DOWN AT WISCASSET RACEWAY

Oakland’s Mike Landry and Windsor’s Maurice Young took full
advantage of the double weekend of action at Wiscasset Raceway and
both drivers came away with a pair of wins each to establish
themselves as the driver to beat in their respective divisions. The
victories highlighted a busy weekend of action at Maine’s “Center of
Speed” with a special double point anniversary show Saturday night and
a makeup program Sunday afternoon. For Landry, Sunday’s win in the 75
lap main event qualifier for the Unicel Super Streets guaranteed him a
starting spot in the $10,000 to win Super Street / Sportsman Nationals
at Wiscasset in early October. He took the lead on lap 68 following
the 7th caution of the race and held of Josh St Clair and RJ Austin
for the win and the $750 payoff. It was his second win of the weekend
and division high 4th of the season. Landry, the division’s only
repeat winner, was most happy to secure his spot in the big race. “I
ain’t concerned about the 750 bucks” he told Travis Barrett of
Green-White-Checkers. “I want to make sure I’m there to win the ten
grand, or atleast have a chance to win the 10 grand.” Following post
race inspection Austin was bumped up to the runnerup position and
“Cowboy” Dan Trask to 3rd. Trask hadn’t raced at the track since May.
6-time track champion Maurice Young also nailed down a pair of
convincing wins in the Keystone Automotive Strictly Streets over the
weekend, picking up his track high 5th & 6th victories of the year.
Saturday night’s show was a special program sponsored by Lester Morse
Auto Sales & Self Storage and Ames True Value Supply as the White
family celebrated their first anniversary at the helm of the track.
Thousand of dollars of prizes were given away including free gasoline
from Wiscasset Quick Stop, kids bicycles & scooters, gift certificates
and logowear. Other winners Saturday evening included veteran Jeff
Burgess of E. Madison taking the win in the 50 lap feature for the
Clark’s Car Crushing Prostocks. It was the first win of the year for
the driver who finished as the division runnerup in 07′. He was joined
in victory lane by John Phippen and Scott King; however King’s car
failed post race inspection, turning the 3rd place trophy over to
defending champ Scott Moore. Phippen would take the division point
lead with his 2nd place finish and Randy Turner experiencing late race
troubles to finish 12th. Jason Witts of Dixmont started on the outside
of the front row in the 30 lap feature for the Smith Construction Late
Model Sportsman and survived a handful of midrace cautions to pick up
his first Wiscasset victory. Peter Oakes of Boothbay moved up from 8th
to finish 2nd and defending champ Chris Thorne, who was involved in
one of the cautions, raced his way back up to a 3rd place finish. In
Mike Landry’s 25 lap victory Saturday night in the Unicel Super
Streets, he was joined in victory lane by Brian Fortin and point
leader Allan Moeller. For Fortin, it was a personal best finish. While
the 20 lap win in Keystone Automotive Strictly Streets went to Maurice
Young, Bath’s Ian Bresnahan would take home the runnerup trophy and
Wiscasset’s Bobby Mesimer was 3rd. The 20 lap feature in the Aable
Auto Parts Mini Stocks was won by Mac Hannan Jr of Union with Ryan
Ripley of Thomaston and Shawn Kimball of Pittston taking 2nd and 3rd.
The official finish of the 15 lap feature in the White and Bradstreet
Mini Trucks didn’t match what transpired on the track. Biddeford’s
Chad Binnette rolled to his 3rd checkered flag in as many tries this
season, but his truck failed post race inspection, turning the victory
over to Chris Doucette. Jaime Foster also failed post race inspection,
bumping up Russ Anderson and Opie Allard into the 2nd and 3rd place
positions. In Sunday afternoon action Chuck Colby picked up his 2nd
win of the season in the 50 lap feature for the Clark’s Car Crushing
Prostocks with Scott Moore and Jesse Smith joining him in victory
lane. Maurice Young’s Sunday win in the 20 lap Keystone Automotive
Strictly Streets was unfortunatly overshadowed by an altercation
between driver Jeff Merrill and track officials following a penalty
against the driver late in the race. When the dust cleared and order
was restored the race was completed and Ed Pierpont and Bobby Mesimer
joined Maurice Young to claim the 2nd and 3rd place trophies. 13 year
old Ryan Ripley, grandson of 3-time Wiscasset champ Doug Ripley,
picked up his first win in the 20 lap feature for the Aable Autoparts
Mini Stocks. The win followed up his runnerup finish the night before.
Previous night podium finishers Mac Hannan and Shawn Kimball each
failed post race inspection and as a result, Natasha Dyer of Arrowsic
picked up a personal best 2nd place finish and Mike Dulaney of
Richmond a season best 3rd. There was also a another big shake up in
the official finish of the 15 lap White & Bradstreet Mini Trucks
Sunday afternoon. Three of the top four finishers faile post race
inspection including apparent winner Don Giggey, giving the win over
to Russ Anderson of Portsmouth, NH and the other trophies to James
Swan of Clinton and Josh Harjula of Boothbay.

Wiscasset Raceway returns to action Saturday August 2nd with
action in all six weekly racing series divisions and sponsored by
Motor Supply Co. Green flag flies on the action at 5:00pm. For more
information, call the Wiscasset Raceway office at (207) 882-4271 or
check the track’s website at www.wiscassetraceway.info.

Naples ME (July 28, 2008) The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super
Late Models return to All-Star Speedway Wednesday night for 200
green flag laps of feature racing in the All-Stars 200.

It’s the second quarter mile the PASS SLM teams have tackled in five
days. Johnny Clark took down his second victory of 2008 in the
Summerfest 150 at Groveton New Hampshire’s Riverside Speedway Saturday
and he’ll be looking to double up at All-Star. Ben Rowe and Travis
Benjamin are deadlocked atop the PASS North point standings, and
they’ll both be out to break the tie at one of New England’s most
competitive bull rings.

The Classic Lites and All-Stars’ own Fast Fours and Fast Eights
complete Wednesday nights’ schedule. Gates open at 5:00 PM; racing
gets underway at 7:00 PM. The 200 lap Super Late Model feature is
scheduled to get the green flag at approximately 8:00 PM.

Fans and competitors are reminded to bring their ticket stubs and

New faces in PASS Mod victory lane at Riverside

Bill; Dixon drove around Scott McDaniels with nine laps remaining to
earn his first Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Mod win at Riverside
Speedway Saturday night.. McDaniels raced home second and Ron Henry
finished third. It was the first PASS Mod podium finish of 2008 for
all three drivers.

McDaniels looked like he might be in line for his first PASS win,
leading thirty-one laps after winning his heat race and starting on
the pole for the forty lap feature. With heat two winner Greg Ellis
along side, McDaniels, Ellis and Dixon raced nose to tail at the
half-way mark with Ron Henry fourth and Andy Shaw fifth. Four time
2008 PASS Mod winner Mark Lucas was charging up through the field but
a flat left rear sent him to the pits; he returned to the speedway one
lap down.

Ellis got shuffled back on the outside to fifth on a lap 23 restart,
and a spin by Sulo Burbank on lap 26 collected both Ellis and point
leader Tom Oliver. All three drivers retired for the night.

McDaniels kept the field at bay on the restart and Ron Henry raced
past Andy Shaw to claim third. Dixon was hot on McDaniels’ heels,
looking for a way around for the lead. Dixon got his chance on lap 31
and the veteran racer went on to capture the victory.

The PASS Mods take a few weeks off before returning to the track at
Wiscasset on Sunday August 17th for the Toyota Tundra 250 weekend at
Wiscasset Raceway.

RANDALL’S SWEEP DAY ONE OF MONSTER ENERGY SUMMERFEST 2008

The rains finally left the area this past Friday night at
the P.A.S.S. sanctioned Riverside Speedway in Groveton, New Hampshire,
leaving clear skies, a great crowd and some awesome racing, plus a
huge Monster Truck wreck for everyone to enjoy on Day #1 of MONSTER
Energy Summerfest 2008. Winners of the first day events were Troy
Randall, Luke Shannon, Dayna Randall, Brent Ming and Cameron Bowen.

It was the Jake McDowell Memorial Street Stock 100
highlighting the night for the River Bend RV Street Stocks, as cars
from several area Speedways invaded Riverside for the $500 to win
portion of the purse. Troy Randall grabbed the lead from Tyler
Therrien on lap 42, and then held off repeated challenges from
Daredevil driver, Jesse Switser to capture his second straight feature
event, and his second straight Jake McDowell Memorial Classic. Shawn
Swallow nailed down the third spot, and he was followed home by
another Daredevil driver, Brandon Lambert and Therrien. Heat wins went
to Swallow, Randall and Rubin Call.

The Budweiser Super Stocks saw Luke Shannon battling his
way by Jeff Fysh late in the event, thus securing another victory for
the hometown driver. Fysh held on for another second place finish,
with point leader, Nathan Swallow rolling home third. Denny Degreenia
and Brian Gosselin completed the top five.

A full field of twenty Leo Enos Landscaping Angels rolled
into Riverside Speedway, and what a race they put on for the crowd.
Early leader Jen Terrill led the first 25 laps before giving up the
lead in traffic to Johanna Christman. Christman held the point until a
lap 29 restart when Dayna Randall, sixteen year old daughter of Street
Stock winner, Troy Randall battled her way by on the outside and
cruised to her second consecutive win. Christman rolled home second
followed by Vanessa Brown, Lindsy Rexford and Terrill.

The Kids Only Daycare Daredevils once again showed
improvement as Brent Ming scored an impressive win over Nick Miller,
Nick Gilcris, Benjamin Belanger and Aaron Poulin in the Rookie main.
The veteran main saw Cameron Bowen grabbing a hard fought victory over
Lyndsay Christman, Keith Lord, Randy Whittum and Jerrad Ainsworth.

Monster Trucks highlighted the evening’s activities as The
Dominator, driven by Kyle Chandler and Easy Rider, driven by Kevin
Kosala put on and unbelievable show for the enthusiastic crowd. The
highlight of the act was when Kosala caught the wheelie bar of Easy
Rider on the pile of cars and flipped it hard on its side. Kosala was
alright but that ended Easy Riders night.

JOHNNY CLARK WINS RAIN SHORTENED DAY #2

OF MONSTER ENERGY SUMMERFEST 200

A huge crowd invaded the P.A.S.S. sanctioned Riverside
Speedway once again this past Saturday night as MONSTER Energy hosted
Day #2 of Summerfest 2008. The day started out with clear skies and
warm temperatures as the P.A.S.s. Super Late Models and P.A.S.S. Mods
rolled into the pit area.

A solid field of Super late Models came to the starting
grid with Cassius Clark dominating the middle part of the race until
Johnny Clark battled by and took over the top spot under threatening
skies. The first caution never waved until lap 62 for a minor spin.
Clark held off all challengers as the skies finally opened up, ending
the race on lap 132. Clark was followed by Travis Benjamin, Derrick
Ranstrom, Ben Rowe and Adam Bates. Ranstrom and Alan Wilson won their
qualifying rounds.

The P.A.S.S. Mods put on a great show as Bill Dixon
carried the checkers for the first time in his career in the series.
Dixon savored the flavor in victory lane as he thanked everyone for
helping gain this elusive first win.

Doug Laleme picked up the win in the Optical Expressions
Outlaw Sportsman main as he cruised to victory over Reggie Theroux,
Dan Sidney, Steve Patnaude and David Ofsuryk Jr. Sidney grabbed the
heat checkers.

The Twisted Tea Dwarf Car feature was a good one as Eric
Hall carried the checkers once again, but it was no easy task as had
Bobby Riley and Dana Huoppi breathing down his neck a good share of
the race, along with Alex Rancourt. The top five were Hall, Riley,
Huoppi, Dave Gyger and Rancourt. Toby Merchant won the heat race.

The Jiffy Mart Cyclones were rained out, and will run a
100 lap main event this Saturday night. The 4×4 Tug O’ War was also
rained out and will be rescheduled for later on this season.

The Monster Trucks did perform their show in the rain and
even though they kept them on all four wheels, they had them twisting
in all directions with another stellar performance.

Riverside Speedway General Manager, Dick Therrien, and
P.A.S.S. president Tom Mayberry are pleased to announce their
agreement for Summerfest 2009, which will be held on July 24th and
25th next year.

The next event on the Riverside Speedway calendar will be
on Saturday, August 2nd, as Central Asphalt Paving will be sponsoring
the evening’s activities. The Late Models return, plus the Outlaw
Sportsman, Super Stocks, Angels, Daredevils and Cyclones. Post time is
6pm.
