Bushey and Corliss Take Thunder Road Titles
Laperle Wins Dramatic Milk Bowl Finale

BARRE, VT ? Stock car drivers Craig Bushey and Jason Corliss
celebrated their first track championships at Barre’s Thunder
Road on Sunday, as part of the 45th Annual Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl
event. Bushey, of Cambridge, earned the NAPA Tiger Sportsman
division title by just 13 points over Joey Laquerre, while Plainfield
racer Corliss clinched the Allen Lumber Street Stock
championship by an even-narrower 1 point over Lloyd Blakely.
Bushey’s 14th-place finish in the 30-lap Chittenden Bank finale was
enough to secure the Sportsman crown, despite Laquerre’s
strong fifth-place run. Unofficially, the margin of victory was 978-965 points.
Brendan Moodie of North Wolcott took his second victory of the season,
with Bradford’s Derrick O’Donnell second and Thetford
Center rookie Dan Eastman third. Ricky Roberts of Websterville
finished fourth ahead of Laquerre. Rookie Cody Blake finished
sixth, unofficially, with Joel Hodgdon, Alex Perkins, Eric Badore, and
rookie Chris Lacey completing the top ten finishers in
order.
Corliss pulled out a surprise championship run in the Street Stock
class. Blakely entered the Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl event
with a nine-point lead over Corliss and Greg Adams, Jr., who were tied
in second. After qualifying heats, Blakely stretched his
advantage to 11 over both drivers, but a 10th-place result in the
25-lap main event left him one point shy of Corliss, who
finished fourth in the race and beat Blakely 1035 points to 1034.
Adams took ninth place in the race and in the standings with
1025.
Donat Premont of Marshfield earned the Street Stock victory to cap off
a late-season comeback. Premont, the 1999 Street Stock
champion, had taken several seasons off before re-joining the class in
August. Garry Bashaw of Lincoln finished second ahead of
Randolph Center’s Markus Farnham in a career-best third place.
Corliss beat rookie Bunker Hodgdon to the line for fourth place.
Mike Martin, Patrick Underwood, rookie David Whitcomb, Adams, and
Blakely completed the unofficial top ten.
Patrick Laperle of Montreal won a dramatic Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl
for the American-Canadian Tour Championship Late Models,
himself clinching the series championship by just one point over
Milton driver Scott Payea. Laperle beat Thunder Road Champion
Eric Williams by two points in the three-segment, cumulatively scored
race. Laperle posted finishes of first, 11th, and eighth in
the three 50-lap segments for a total low score of 20 points.
Williams placed ninth, sixth, and seventh for a total score of 22
points. Ryan Nolin of Georgia, Dennis Demers of Shelburne, and Chip
Grenier of Graniteville completed the unofficial top five
finishers.
Travis Hull of Graniteville won the Power Shift Online Junkyard
Warrior division championship on Saturday over Wolcott’s Jamie
Davis. For more information, call (802) 244-6963 or visit

Laperle Wins Milk Bowl, Steals ACT Championship

Laperle Wins Milk Bowl, Steals ACT Championship

BARRE, VT ? Patrick Laperle of Montreal had a career-defining
day at Barre, VT’s Thunder Road, winning the 45th Annual
Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl stock car event, and stealing the
American-Canadian Tour Late Model Championship from rival Scott Payea
of Milton, VT. Laperle took a narrow two-point Milk Bowl win over
Eric Williams in the three-segment, cumulatively scored race,
and crept past Payea for the championship by just a single point,
unofficially, for the season crown.
“(Today) was about the championship,” said the emotional
Frenchman. “You race all year for a championship. The Milk Bowl
was like, how do you say it, the cherry on top of the ice cream.”
For Laperle, it was his second consecutive Chittenden Bank Milk
Bowl win ? his third Milk Bowl win in four years ? and his
first ACT Late Model Tour championship; he won the
Quebec/Ontario-based Serie ACT-Castrol title a year ago. The race
victory was
worth $10,000, plus bonuses, and a chance to repeat Milk Bowl
tradition and kiss the beauty queen ? an Ayrshire dairy cow
named “Miss Kitty.”
Laperle posted finishes of first, eleventh, and eighth in the
three 50-lap segments for a total score of 20 points (one
point awarded per finishing position, lowest total score wins the Milk
Bowl). Hyde Park, VT driver Williams, who was crowned the
2008 Thunder Road Track Champion a month ago, had finishes of ninth,
sixth, and seventh for a total score of 22 points to finish
as the runner-up. Ryan Nolin of Georgia, VT sandwiched a tough
20th-place middle segment with finishes of third and first to
score 24 points and finish third overall.
Dennis Demers of Shelburne, VT finished fourth overall (6+16+6=28
points), with Graniteville, VT driver Chip Grenier taking a
career-best ACT Late Model Tour finish in fifth (11+9+9=29 points).
John Donahue of Graniteville, VT won the second segment, but
slumped in the other two rounds to finish 13th overall.
Payea was the victim of an accordion-like incident during a
restart on lap 14 of the third segment, pushing the nose up on
his car and forcing him to slow his pace. He entered the final
segment as a contender for the overall Milk Bowl win after
finishes of seventh and tenth, but managed only a 13th in the final
round. His total score of 30 points left him sixth overall in
the Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl, earning him 80 ACT championship points
to Laperle’s 100 championship points. Using ACT’s “Pick 10″
championship format that counts only the best ten of 12 events for
each driver, Laperle’s final tally was 914 points to Payea’s
913.
Four-time Milk Bowl winner Robbie Crouch of Tampa, FL finished
seventh overall (8+13+10=31 points), with Lancaster, NH
driver Quinny Welch eighth (13+3+17=33 points). ACT Late Model Tour
Rookie of the Year Nick Sweet of Barre, VT finished ninth
(19+4+11=34 points), with Williston, VT’s Brian Hoar tenth
unofficially (5+15+14=34 points). Sweet won the tie-breaker for
overall position with Hoar due to his better final-segment finish.
Laperle’s championship marks the first by a Canadian driver on
the ACT Late Model Tour since the series’ inception in
1992, and ends a streak of five consecutive championships won by
Milton, VT driver Jean-Paul Cyr. Cyr finished third in
championship standings, unofficially. For more information, visit

CFS Crowns its 2008 stock-car points champions

Posted in: Latest News | | No Comments »>

(Shediac, N.B.) — Four new division champions were crowned at the
Centre for Speed (CFS) in Grand Barachois, N.B. on Sunday afternoon
during the final stock-car points championship event for 2008.

Claude Gaudet (#22) of Barachois captured the Sportsman division
championship thanks to two second place showings in the feature and
semi-final along with a third place showing in the heat. Going into
the final points event, Gaudet had a five-point lead on his closest
competitor. When it was all said and done, he took home the overall
championship with a 4-point cushion over the defending points
champion Luc Bourgeois (#88) of Memramcook Bert Cormier (#3) of
Bouctouche who finished in a tie for second place overall. Even though
Bourgeois finally captured his first feature win of the season to go
along with a win in the semi and a second place showing in the heat,
it wasn’t enough to catch Gaudet, but it was enough to move him into a
two-way tie with Cormier for second.

The new Streetstock division champion is a familiar face as G?rard
Doiron (#15) of Haute Aboujagane picked up wins in the feature and
semi-final along with a second place finish in the heat to maintain
his sizeable lead and win the overall division championship. It’s
Doiron’s second Streetstock championship after first capturing the
division title back in 2005. This season, Doiron was dominant
capturing seven feature wins and never being out the top three at the
finish line. Veteran Mark Ferguson (#41) of Saint John showed that
consistency pays off claiming second overall in the division ahead
while sophomore Mark Sherwood (#44) of Dieppe finished the season in
third position, thanks in part to his second checkered flag in the
Sunday’s heat.

Only one point separated Martin Landry (#00) and Pierre Gautreau (#99)
both of Shediac going into the final Tigercat points event of the
season and the two fierce competitors did not disappoint. In all three
races, it was an identical finish with Gautreau recording a grand slam
with Landry parked on his back bumper as they crossed the finish line
in the heat, semi-final and feature. With the three wins, Gautreau
moved up three points in the standings to capture the 2008
championship ahead of Landry, while veteran Brad Daley (#66) of
Moncton looked on in third position.

Finally, in the Thundercat division, Don Marcoux (#91) of
St-Louis-de-Kent is the new division champion after he captured his
seventh feature win of the season, but saw his 17-point lead dwindles
to a 12-point lead over Wilfred Simon (#10) of Bouctouche. As has been
the case during the latter part of the season, Marcoux found himself
battling lap traffic in the heat and semi-final, but finally put it
all together in the feature to claim the championship. For his part,
Simon took second in the heat to creep up on Marcoux while Denis
Leblanc (#95) of Bouctouche parlayed strong finishes in the three
races to move from sixth in points to third overall.

The next event at the Centre for Speed, Greater Moncton’s Playground
of Power, will be the 8th annual Pepsi Atlantic Stock Car
Championships, stock-car racing’s year-end celebration in Atlantic
Canada scheduled for the Thanksgiving Day long weekend in October.

On Saturday, October 11, CFS will host the Pepsi Pro Stock 150 and the
Vance Hanes Autoparts Sportsman 100 pitting the best drivers from
throughout Atlantic Canada. A number of competitors from the highly
competitive CARQUEST Maritime Pro Stock Tour (MPST) traditionally make
the trek to CFS for this year-end event, and this year is no
different. As well, many of the top Sportsman drivers, including many
track champions from throughout our region, are expected to compete in
this final Sportsman event for 2008.

Then, on Sunday, October 12, the CENTRE will host the Atlantic
Streetstock Championship 75, the 4-cylinder Atlantic Championship, a
Legends division 30-lap finale as well as the final event for the
Atlantic Open Wheel (AOW) modified series. A note that as of today,
well over 25 Streetstock teams, including a large number of
competitors from Cape Breton and Prince Edward Island, have already
confirmed their intention to compete in this Atlantic Championship
event.

In total, over 150 teams from throughout Atlantic Canada traditionally
make the trek to CFS for in the Atlantic Championships with a total
purse of $47,000 on the line.

WISCASSET RACEWAY PRESS RELEASE 9/26/08

RAIN EXTENDS WISCASSET’S SEASON ONCE AGAIN

If you you’re a diehard race fan that wants to see racing action
through the month of October, Wiscasset Raceway will be your place to
go. After a lengthy string of sunny days over the past two weeks a
weekend of heavy rain throughout the northeast has once again forced
track management to pull the plug on its weekly racing program; a pair
of shows Saturday and Sunday that were already makeup dates from
earlier rainouts. Track owner / promoter Doug White wasted little time
cancelling the double header weekend of action, making the call early
Friday morning. For the second straight season Wiscasset Raceway has

Mother Nature Can’t Dampen Milk Bowl

BARRE, VT ? The 45th Annual Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl stock car
event will go on as scheduled at Barre,
VT’s Thunder Road on Sat./Sun., Sept. 27/28, despite a test from
Mother Nature. Recent weather forecasts have
changed in favor of the event’s taking place, and have prompted race
officials to continue with the program as
planned.
“We feel like we’ll get a fair chance to race on Saturday, and
Sunday should be even better,” said Thunder
Road Manager Tom Curley. “In fact, we’ve even got back-up from our
friends at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, as
they’ve kindly offered us the use of their jet-dryer in case we do get wet.”
The weekend begins with Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Qualifying Day on
Saturday, Sept. 27 at 1:30pm, with Time
Trials for the $1,000 Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Pole Award and “Triple 50″
qualifying races for the American-Canadian

Tiger Sportsman and Allen Lumber Street Stock
divisions, and the championship season finale for the Power Shift
Online Junkyard Warriors.

segment, cumulatively scored race that awards points in each of the
three 50-lap segments (1 point for 1st, 2
points for 2nd, etc.). The finishing order of each segment is
reversed to begin the next, leaving, for example,
the winner of Segment 1 to start last ? 28th ? in Segment 2. The
driver with the lowest total score is declared
the overall Milk Bowl winner, earning $10,000 and the right to kiss
the trophy queen ? a Vermont dairy cow!
Scott Payea of Milton, VT will battle Montr?al’s Patrick
Laperle for not only the Chittenden Bank Milk
Bowl victory, but also the ACT Late Model Tour Championship. The 26
year-old Payea leads Laperle by just 19
points entering the season finale. Laperle is the two-time and
defending Milk Bowl winner. Feature events will
also be run to determine the Sportsman and Street Stock divisional
champions on Sunday.

Blewett Scores Fifth Win in Sunoco Mods at Thompson; Malone Mod Champ

Astle, Zuidema, Sundeen, Vigeant & Field Also Crowned ‘08 Champs;

Final Thursday Night Feature to Bessette, O’Sullivan, Douton, Sullivan & Romano

Thompson, CT (September 25, 2008): The point chase went down to the
wire with 2008 champions being crowned on the final Thursday Night of
competition at Thompson International Speedway. Jimmy Blewett of
Howell, NJ, won the battle in the Sunoco Modifieds but it was Kerry
Malone of Needham, MA, winning the war. Fred Astle, Jr., of Westport,
MA, was the runner-up to George Bessette of Danbury, CT, in Pro Stock
action on Thursday Night to catapult him to the divisional
championship.

Jeff Zuidema of N. Brookfield, MA, was crowned as the 2008 Late Model
Champion while Tommy O’Sullivan of Springfield, MA, won the final
regular feature event for the division. Chris “Moose” Douton of
Waterford, CT, was tops in a Limited Sportsman feature that found
Scott Sundeen of Oxford, MA, winning the championship. Kurt Vigeant,
also of Oxford, MA, scored back-to-back championships in the TIS
Modified division. Brian Sullivan of S. Windsor, CT, was victorious in
the final TIS Modified point race of season. Mike Romano of Glendale,
RI, did all he could; winning the Mini Stock feature; but, it was not
enough to overtake Danny Field of Deep River, CT, who earned the 2008
championship.

Jimmy Blewett of Howell, NJ, had the right combination of skill and
luck on Thursday night to score his fifth Sunoco Modified victory of
the 2008 season. Kerry Malone of Needham, MA, had the winning
combination all year long, earning the Sunoco Modified 2008 track
championship, his first Thompson title since 1993.

After two weeks of near incident free racing, the Sunoco Modifieds had
a rough and tumble 35-lap feature. Before a lap could be completed,
Todd Ceravolo backed into the inside wall on the backstretch. When the
race went green, Josh Sylvester led with Tim Sullivan in tow as the
top guns were dicing it up in traffic.

Aggressive driving was the norm with cars sliding sideways and kicking
up dirt. During the fray the likes of Blewett, Cravenho, and Rocco
were swapping positions. Meanwhile championship contenders Malone and
Danny Cates ran quietly deep in the pack.

During an incident on the front stretch, Shawn Monahan got launched
over a sliding Sullivan. Monahan landed, Sullivan kept going, and the
green remained on the speedway. The caution did fly a lap later on the
eighth circuit for a large piece of debris on the front stretch.

On the ensuing restart, there was contact. Front row starters Josh
Sylvester and Bert Marvin along with Keith Rocco, Cravenho and others
getting involved. There was heavy damage to Cravenho and Marvin. Rocco
and Cravenho were both able to continue.

When things shook out, Blewett had inherited the lead with Malone in
second. Cates lined up third with Sullivan in fourth. Pitkat rounded
out the top five. Under green, Blewett continued to lead with Cates
glued to his back bumper. Pitkat had the best seat in third.

Blewett withstood a pair of late race cautions to take his fifth win
of the season. Cates, who never relented, capped off a stellar season
with a second-place finish. Malone bested teammate Pitkat to finish
third and to win his Sunoco Modified track championship. Sullivan
rebounded nicely to finish fifth.

George Bessette of Danbury, CT, took top honors in a hotly contested
Pro Stock main event. Bessette took over the top spot on a restart
following a lap 22 incident which took out leader Derek Ramstrom.
Point leader Fred Astle, Jr. of Westport, MA, was in the heat of the
battle all night, leading on several occasions. He crossed under the
checkers in the second position and as the Pro Stock champion.

Astle is two-for-two in Pro Stock competition in 2008. Last week,
Astle earned a Pro Stock championship at Seekonk Speedway. He survived
the 30-lap Pro Stock feature event to win the Pro Stock championship
at Thompson for longtime car owner Rollie Lindblad.

The Pro Stocks also had trouble getting the first lap in as well.
Contact between Ramstrom and outside pole sitter Chris Curtis sent
Curtis spinning in front of the pack. A number of cars were collected
including championship chasers Jay Macedonio and Mike O’Sullivan,
along with Jeff Connors, Steve Desmarias.

Between cautions, the leaders treated the fans to some intense racing.
Early in the event, Ramstrom, Astle, and Norm Wrenn were locked in a
tremendous battle for the top spot. Lap-after-lap the three leaders
jockeyed for position. Ramstrom and Wrenn swapped the second position
before Wrenn was able to move into the second spot. The Nashua, NH,
driver immediately went to work on Astle for the lead. Bessette ran
alone in fourth while Macedonio had worked his way back into the
top-five by lap ten.

Things reached a boiling point on lap 22 when the caution flew for an
incident involving Macedonio and Wrenn. Berghman was also collected.
Before they could complete the lap, leaders Astle and Ramstrom got
together exiting turn four. Ramstrom spun to bring out the caution
once again.

On the ensuing restart, Bessette was able to take positions away from
Chris Magee, who ran in second, and Astle in a single lap. Bessette
went on to score his third Pro Stock victory of the season. Astle and
Macedonio completed the top-three. Mike O’Sullivan rebounded to finish
fourth ahead of Magee.

Tommy O’Sullivan of Springfield, MA, turned in a dominating
performance to win his first Late Model feature of the season. Jeff
Zuidema of N. Brookfield, MA, accomplished his season-long goal by
winning the 2008 Late Model championship. Despite a fine piece of
driving by closest pursuer Marc Palmisano, Zuidema was able to earn
the title.

Mark Jenison jumped out to the early lead in the Late Model main event
with Tim O’Sullivan in tow. Zuidema ran comfortably in third
protecting his point lead while chaser Palmisano and Gentes diced
through traffic and into the top five. Once free, the duo of Palmisano
and Gentes ran down Zuidema.

Up front, O’Sullivan and Jenison went door-to-door for the top spot
for a several laps before O’Sullivan was able to take over the lead at
the halfway marker. Palmisano was getting racy with Zuidema for
third. The championship chasers went fender-to-fender with Gentes
right behind. Finally on lap 16, Palmisano was able to take over the
third spot. He immediately went to work on Jenison for second.

O’Sullivan had extended his lead by a half-straightaway by the time
Palmisano motored into the second position on lap 19. With two laps to
go, Jenison bobbled exiting turn two, Zuidema checked-up while Gentes
surged ahead. Gentes was able to nick Jenison at the line to take
third position behind winner O’Sullivan, and Palmisano. Zuidema
completed the top-five.

Chris “Moose” Douton of Waterford, MA, decided to call Thompson home
late in the season. The veteran competitor made the move pay off when
he visited Limited Sportsman victory lane in the final point race of
the season. Despite having a tough night, Scott Sundeen of Douglas,
MA, was unofficially crowned the 2008 Limited Sportsman division
champion.

Point leader Scott Sundeen was involved in an early race incident that
also involved his son Jay and found himself playing catch-up for the
bulk of the event. Joe Arena was among the early leaders as Douton,
championship chasers Ed Puleo and Larry Barnett, and Jesse Gleason
were in the thick of battle inside the top five.

A lap six restart meant disaster for Barnett, who was sat third in
points only 22 points out. Contact between Puleo and Barnett on the
restart found Barnett’s #73 hard into the outside wall. Cars scattered
but Steve Kenneway ran out of running room t-boning Barnett. Everyone
walked away. Puleo restarted at the tail of the field.

On the ensuing restart, Douton was able to take over the top spot from
Arena. A bobble at halfway almost cost Douton the win; however, the
veteran driver gathered it up to maintain his lead to ultimately take
the win. Arena settled for second ahead of Gleason, Paul Palen, and
Randy Jurcik inside the top five. Puleo recovered to finish seventh
while Sundeen finished ninth and Barnett a dismal 20th.

Brian Sullivan waited until after the halfway marker to make his move
in the TIS Modified division. Sullivan moved from the third position
past Glenn Boss and Leo Oliveira for the lead with just over five laps
remaining in the main event. He went on unchallenged to the checkers
picking up his second win of the season. Oliveira came home second
ahead of Boss, Cam McDermott, and Shane Michalski inside the top five.

The point leader Kurt Vigeant suffered mechanical problems during his
heat race. He settled for running at the tail end of the top-ten in
the feature. His eighth-place finish was enough to net the Oxford,
MA, driver his second straight TIS Modified championship.

Mike Romano, of Glendale, RI, gave it everything he had in an effort
to repeat as the Mini Stock championship by winning the final
divisional point race. But it was not enough as Danny Field, who had a
20-point advantage entering the night, battled Romano down to the wire
for the victory and ultimately the championship.

As the old saying goes the cream always rises to the top. Just after
halfway, the two championship contenders had worked their way into the
top spots. Romano trailed Field in the points but Field trailed on
track. Field applied some pressure at the end of a caution-laden event
but settled back in line to finish second. Billy Pomposelli, Scott
Michalski, and Chuck Rogers rounded out the top five.

It was a very special evening at Thompson Speedway as Program
Dynamics, the official souvenir program of Thompson Speedway,
presented “Most Popular Driver” Awards in all six Thursday Night
Thunder divisions. Danny Cates (Sunoco Modifieds), Derek Ramstrom (Pro
Stocks), Rick Gentes (Late Model), Scott Sundeen (Limited Sportsman),
Scott Michalski (Mini Stock), and R.J. Marcotte (TIS Modifieds) all
received the prestigious honor.

Next up for the Thompson International Speedway is the prestigious and

14-divisions of racing action. For more information call the Speedway

SEASON CHAMPS TO BE CROWNED SUNDAY AT CFS

SEASON CHAMPS TO BE CROWNED SUNDAY AT CFS

(Shediac, N.B.) — It all comes down to the final stock-car points
championship event for 2008 and only one thing is for certain ? at
least three and possibly four new champions will be crowned at the
Centre for Speed (CFS) in Grand Barachois, N.B. on Sunday afternoon.

In the Sportsman division,
it’s a nail-biting four-way battle for the championship. Defending
points champion Luc Bourgeois (#88) of Memramcook currently sits in
third spot going into the final points event, but is only eight points
behind leader Claude Gaudet (#22) of Barachois and three points behind
Bert Cormier (#3) of Bouctouche. Gaudet, who is competing in his
second full season in the Sportsman division and is a former Street
Stock champion at CFS, heads into the weekend action with momentum
after capturing the Maritime Super Series for Sportsman championship
with a win in the 100-lap finale presented at Blue Mountain Speedway
in Bathurst on September 14.

Veteran Dan Bourque (#15) of Grande-Digue, who has let it be known
that this will most likely be his last season of Sportsman
competition, is also within striking distance of the championship as
he sits in fourth position, only 12 points behind the leader Gaudet.
However, there is a question mark as to whether Bourque will be able
to compete in Sunday’s final points event after his racecar sustained
significant damage in racing action last weekend.

In the Streetstock division, G?rard Doiron (#15) of Haute Aboujagane
will likely have the champagne chilling nearby as he guns for his
second division championship with a comfortable 38-point lead over his
closest
competitor, the veteran Mark Ferguson (#41) of Saint John. Doiron,
who captured the Streetstock championship back in 2005, has dominated
the field this season reeling off a number of consecutive feature
wins. Currently sitting third in the standings, 57 points behind the
leader Doiron, is sophomore Mark Sherwood (#44) of Dieppe.

The ultra-competitive TigerCat division provides the closest battle
going into the final points event. In fact, only one point separates
two of the young guns in the division, Martin Landry (#00) of Grand
Barachois and Pierre Gautreau (#99) of Shediac, while Pierre’s cousin
Daniel Gautreau (#20) also of Shediac, sits 20 points behind in third
and veteran Brad Daley (#66) of Moncton rounds out the top four with a
45 point gap behind Landry. It is therefore quite conceivable that the
new TigerCat champion could be decided on the very last lap of the
final feature race.

Finally, in the Thundercat division, it is a two-car race heading into
the weekend with Don Marcoux (#91) of St-Louis-de-Kent holding a slim
17-point lead over Wilfred Simon (#10) of Bouctouche. Over the past
few weeks, Marcoux has quite often found himself battling through lap
traffic in many of the races while
Simon has quietly climbed the standings with consistent top-5
finishes. The 16 other competitors in this field will be out to
solidify their current positions with Jacques Leblanc (#30) of
Bouctouche sitting in third position with only a 10 points
cushion on his closest rival, 16-year-old Michael Broderick (#3) of
Moncton.

The final regular points stock-car racing event for 2008 gets underway
at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at the Centre for Speed, Greater
Moncton’s Playground of Power.

During the upcoming Thanksgiving Day long weekend, the CFS will once
again be home to the 8th annual Pepsi Atlantic Stock Car Championships
with the Pepsi Pro Stock 150 and the Vance Hanes Autoparts Sportsman
100 pitting the best drivers from throughout Atlantic Canada on
Saturday, October 11. Then, on October 12, the CENTRE will host the
Atlantic Streetstock Championship 75, the 4-cylinder Atlantic
Championship, a Legends
division 30-lap finale as well as the final event for the Atlantic
Open Wheel (AOW) modified series. Over 150 teams from throughout
Atlantic Canada traditionally make the trek to CFS for Atlantic
Canada’s stock-car racing year-end celebration with a total purse of
$47,000 up for grabs.
