ACT TOUR TO OPEN SEASON AT LEE USA WITH GOVERNOR?S
ACT TOUR TO OPEN SEASON AT LEE USA WITH GOVERNOR?S CUP 150 AT LEE USA SPEEDWAY
Waterbury, VT ? The American Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model
teams will open the most ambitious schedule
ever with the New Hampshire Governor?s Cup 150 lap championship event
on April 19, 2009 at the Lee USA Speedway in
Lee, New Hampshire.
The excitement for the 2009 lid-lifter has reached an all-time high.
Besides capturing an opening day victory, the
winner of the New Hampshire Governor?s Cup 150 will become the first
of thirty-six qualifiers for the inaugural
ACT INVITATIONAL to be held at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway on
September 19, 2009. It has brought out the most
competitive field of racers to an ACT opening event in many years.
A record number of entries are expected for what has become a favorite
stop for the touring regulars. ACT Tour
Championship contenders, including Vermonters Brent Dragon, John
Donahue, five-time ACT Champion Brian Hoar, 3-
time Thunder Road Champion Cris Michaud, and former ACT and Thunder
Road Champion Phil Scott have all entered the
event. Former Lee USA competitor Ricky Wolf joins a strong group of
Lee regulars with home track advantage
including Wayne Helliwell, Jr., Bryan Kruczek and Jeremy Harclerode
who have entered the opening event. The Lee
regulars have tested the ACT Tour regulars at their home track in the
past; they are expected to do the same on
April 19th.
Cris Michaud finished third in the New Hampshire Governor?s Cup last
year and said, ?Our team has always competed
well at Lee, in fact, over the years we have been fortunate to finish
in the top five nearly every time we have
raced there. This year it would be special to win early and get the
pressure off our team by securing a qualified
spot the ACT INVITATIONAL. We are very excited about opening at Lee,
it has become one of my favorite tracks, away
from Thunder Road.?
There are a number of ?outlaws? who have entered the opening event at
Lee. Donald Theetge from Quebec City, QC has
entered the opener. Theetge, who ran the ACT Tour for the past two
years will return to challenge for the ACT
Serie Castrol Championship in Quebec in 2009. Theetge is a two-time
former Champion of the Quebec series.
The ?King of the Outlaws?, Eddie MacDonald from Rowley, MA has also
entered. MacDonald has made it clear that he
is interested in winning one of the ACT Tour Qualifiers which will get
him an invitation to the New Hampshire
Motor Speedway event. MacDonald swept both legs of the Loudon weekend
in 2008 while competing in the NASCAR
Camping World East Series at the ?magic mile?. The ?outlaw? also
closed late in the 2008 edition of the 100-lap
event to challenge eventual winner, Hudson, NH?s Joey Polewarczyk.
This year the event will cover a distance of
150 laps. That should fit right into the strategy of the versatile
star from Rowley, MA very well.
Opening day action at Lee USA has been a long tradition for the
American Canadian Tour. When owners Red and Judy
MacDonald first opened Lee back in 1987, it was the ACT Pro Stock Tour
that thrilled opening day crowds. ACT
brought the most competitive exciting short track racing in the region
to area short tracks back then. Not much
has changed since those opening years, and with the return of the ACT
Late Model Tour Sunday, April 19, 2009, a
new season of short track excitement will start their engines one more
time. Post time for the New Hampshire
Governor?s Cup is 1:00 pm. For additional information contact Lee USA
Speedway at 987.462.4252.

Racing Against Cancer Team Rewarded with ShopWurld.com Title
Racing Against Cancer Team Rewarded with ShopWurld.com Title Sponsorship
Westbrook, CT (March 20, 2009): The Racing Against Cancer Program TM
is poised to embark on a new era of fundraising. The popular federally
recognized non-profit organization has been dedicated to the fight
against cancer for over 12 years. After their announcement this week,
the organization stands to increase its reach and scope exponentially.
ShopWurld of Saratoga Springs, NY, an international internet-based
business, has signed on as the title sponsor of the Racing Against
Cancer Program for the 2009 season.
ShopWurld is an internet mall that includes retailers from a host of
categories including apparel, health & beauty, electronics, office
supplies, etc. Over 1,000 well-known retailers are represented
including NASCAR.com Superstores, Home Depot, Toys ?R Us, Dick?s
Sporting Goods, Staples, JC Penny, Macy?s, Pet Smart and many more.
The start up company has experienced tremendous growth over a
relatively short time with an innovative business model that serves as
a winning alternative in today?s technological age and tenuous
economic climate. Currently, ShopWurld has over 10,000 members.
?We are truly excited to be affiliated with ShopWurld.com,? said
Director of Operations for Racing Against Cancer, Scott Gregory of
Westbrook, CT. ? The program, its beneficiaries, and its benefactors
are especially fortunate to be getting in on the ground floor. The
opportunity that this association brings can be monumental in terms of
exposure and fundraising.?
By employing a multi-tiered marketing program, ShopWurld helps
individual consumers generate income while charities like the Racing
Against Cancer Program reap the benefit. When a partner of the
ShopWurld Network shops through the website shopwurld.com, ShopWurld
receives a percentage of the purchase amounts in the form of Store
Payouts. In turn, members earn a commission on all purchases made
through the ShopWurld network while an additional percentage can go to
registered non-profit organizations like the Racing Against Cancer
Program; giving them a share of the over $200 billion online shopping
industry.
The amount ShopWurld receives as a Store Payout depends on the
particular store ranging from 1% to 30%. A portion of the stores pay a
flat fee for a purchase of a service or an enrollment in a program.
When entering the ShopWurld mall, shoppers are redirected to the
store?s website. Purchases are completed directly with the store
including payment, shipping, etc. Neither partners nor members are
required to make any investment.
The ShopWurld Network grows as people tell their friends about this
unique opportunity. It?s sustained and immediate growth poses an
incredible opportunity for the Racing Against Cancer Program and their
supporters to earn money for causes like the American Cancer Society,
David?s House, the Tomorrow Fund, the C.H.A.I.N. Fund and other cancer
related charities.
“ShopWurld is thrilled to be a part of the Racing Against Cancer
Program,? said Paul Bardwell, Co-Founder of ShopWurld.com. ?In these
trying economic times, if a charity can offer a supporter a way to
give more without affecting their personal budget, everybody wins. Our
sincere hope is that RAC will be able to exceed all their fundraising
goals with the help of our program.”
Effective immediately, the Racing Against Cancer team has become a
Gold Network Partner. Supporters of the program are encouraged to join
RAC?s Personal Network (using the RAC ShopWurld ID). Members of the
organization will also build their own Personal Networks of other
members and friends.
The success of the program will rest primarily in the hands of its supporters.
?Racers and race fans can help raise money for the Racing Against
Program simply by buying the products they use every day,? continued
Grego ry. ?ShopWurld is offering the R.A.C. Team and its members the
opportunity to raise enough funds to help R.A.C. set new fundraising
record each and every year in the future.?
For complete details on how the ShopWurld Network functions, visit
shopwurld.com.
The partnership with ShopWurld comes on the heels of the announcement
that long-time supporter of the Racing Against Cancer program, the
Foxwoods Resort Casino, citing the hardships of the struggling
economy, would no longer serve as the charities primary sponsor.
A trio of Racing Against Cancer Team members will race under the
ShopWurld banner during the 2009 season including Scott Gregory in the
Truck division at the Waterford Speedbowl in Waterford, CT; Tom Fox in
the Late Model division at Thompson International Speedway in
Thompson, CT; and Kaitlyn Donovan in the SYRA division at Seekonk
Speedway in Seekonk, MA.
COOLLimousine.com has also joined the family of sponsors for the
Racing Against Cancer Program for 2009.
In the coming weeks, the Racing Against Cancer Program will debut a
new website, ShopWurldRacing.com, dedicated to the fundraising and
racing efforts of the team.

long tow to Dillon Motor Speedway worth their while Saturday afternoon
as Rowe set fast time and won the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South
Carolina Clash for super late models . Rowe started fifth after the
top ten time trialers re- drew for starting positions, and the four
time PASS North champion quickly powered his way to the front. Rowe
took the lead from 2008 PASS South champ Alex Haase on lap twenty-two
and despite the best efforts of Justin Wakefield on every double file
restart, Rowe cruised to a convincing victory. Wakefield had to
settle for second and young Ryan Blaney came from the back of the
field to finish third. Jeff Fultz and Spencer Wauters rounded out the
top five.
The South Carolina Clash marked the inaugural appearance of the PASS
Late Model Trucks, and Hal Goodson goes in the record book as the
first race winner in the new touring series. Grant Davidson chased
Goodson to the checkers with Joe Heigl third.
PASS South takes a break until Saturday April 11th when the series
makes the first of three 2009 visits to Hickory Motor Speedway for the
fourth annual Easter Bunny 150. The Easter Bunny is now round one of
the 2009 PASS National Championship series, so a big field of
competitors from the maritime provinces of Canada, the northeast and

DERRY, NH (Mar. 20, 2009) - While most residents of the

is a hearty group of power sports enthusiasts still ready for more fun
on the snow.
Members of that group will get one last chance to rev their
engines on March 28-29, as Rock Maple Racing (RMR) gets set for its
West series snocross finale at the beautiful Peek N’ Peak Resort & Spa
in Findley Lake, New York. This race will complete the season for
Women and Semi-Pro racers, while Sport and Junior riders will conclude
their season in Windham, NY, the following weekend.
Spectator gates open at 8 a.m. each day, with racing getting
under way promptly at 9 a.m. Admission is just $12 per day for adults.
Children under the age of 10 will be admitted free with a paying
adult. Pit passes valid through the entire weekend will be available
for an extra $10.
Leading the charge into Findley Lake are Semi-Pro riders
Mitchell Sickler and Kyle Becker. Sickler, of Harvey’s Lake, PA,
currently holds a 23-point advantage over Aaron Shelton in Semi-Pro
Open, while Becker, of West Hurley, NY, sits atop the Semi-Pro Stock
standings with a more comfortable 42-point margin over Sickler. Joey

In the most recent West series race in Stamford, NY, Becker
(Arctic Cat) held off a hard-charging Sickler (Ski-doo) for top honors
in Semi-Pro Open, while Bailey (Ski-doo) claimed third. Tim Randall
(Polaris), of Corinth, NY, led Becker and Pete Edwards (Polaris)
across the stripe in Semi-Pro Stock.

FINAL OPEN PRACTICE BEFORE ICEBREAKER NEXT WEEKEND
FINAL OPEN PRACTICE BEFORE ICEBREAKER NEXT WEEKEND
THOMPSON, CT A bright and sunny day offered the perfect
combination to bring out ?race fever? at the Thompson International
Speedway. Race teams converged on the Thompson oval to take advantage
of six hours of open practice time offered by the speedway.
Race cars representing seven different NASCAR Whelen
racing divisions used the open practice opportunity to fine tune their
race cars after off-season updates, improvements, changes and, in some
cases, test brand new race cars. In all, over eighty race teams took
advantage of the chance to get their cars ready for Thompson?s
ICEBREAKER which is only two weeks away.
NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour cars lead the list of
competitors getting a jump on the racing season. Joining the ?Tour?
teams were Sunoco Modifieds, Super Late Models, Thompson Modifieds,
Late Models, Limited Sportsman, Mini Stocks, Race Trucks and antique
race cars. Seven time Modified Tour champion, Mike Stefanik was
grateful to have the on-track time. ?We found that over the winter we
solved a problem that had plagued us for a good part of last year. We
are here to shake it down and things are going well,? he said.
This was the first of two open practice dates leading
up to the season-opening ICEBREAKER. The next open practice date is
Saturday, March 28th. The track will be open for practice between the
hours of 11 AM and 6 PM. Any safe race car is welcome. NASCAR has
granted permission for Whelen Modified Tour cars to participate on the
28th as well. The grandstands will not be open, but any interested
race fan at least sixteen years of age may sign in through the pit
area and view the on-track activity from the pit grandstands.
Thompson?s ICEBREAKER is set for the weekend of April
4th & 5th. The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will open its 25th season
with qualifying on Saturday April 4th and will compete in a 150-lap
main event on Sunday, April 5th. Tour drivers will gather on Sunday at
12 Noon for a huge autograph session. Fans are urged to bring their
cameras and items they would like to have autographed by their
favorite NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour driver.
In addition to the Modified Tour, ICEBREAKER weekend
will feature Thompson?s ?Super 6? NASCAR Whelen All American Series
divisions. In fact, the Sunoco Modifieds and Late Models will be doing
double duty. They will race both Saturday night after qualifying and
again on Sunday. They will be joined by the Thompson Super Late
Models, Limited Sportsman, Thompson Modifieds and Mini Stocks.

Historical ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway Creates Buzz
WATERBURY, VT - On September 19th, 2009, the New Hampshire Motor
Speedway (NHMS) will become the 23rd different track to host an
American-Canadian Tour Late Model event. It will also become the
largest track (1.058 mile) to ever hold an ACT event, surpassing the
7/8ths mile Sanair Super Speedway in St. Pie, PQ.
Sanair Super Speedway held the inaugural ACT Late Model Tour race and
was won by Norm Andrews of Warren, VT on April 26, 1992. To date,
there have been 186 ACT Late Model Tour events with 57 different
winners, including the non-point counting All-Star race at Autodrome
Chaudiere in Vall?e-Jonction, PQ held in 2008.
In 2009 there will be 12 point counting events and another All-Star
race at Chaudiere before the ACT Invitational. That will bring the
total events to 199 and make the ACT Invitational at NHMS the 200th
event run by the American based ACT Late Model Tour.
It will also be the first time the point leaders from the nine ACT
affiliated tracks will be invited to an invitational event. These nine
tracks are Thunder Road in Barre, VT, Lee (NH) USA Speedway, White
Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, NH, Oxford Plains (ME)
Speedway, Seekonk (MA) Speedway, Waterford (CT) Speedbowl, Twin State
Speedway in Claremont, NH, Capital City Speedway in Ottawa, and
Kawartha (ON) Speedway.
The ACT Invitational wouldn?t be possible without the revolutionary
crate engine and spec shock programs, and their acceptance by these
affiliated tracks. These programs were developed by ACT President Tom
Curley to keep short track Late Model racing in the Northeast
affordable and competitive. Since these programs were introduced into
ACT competition, they have kept car counts up by allowing teams to be
competitive without going broke. This has been crucial to keeping
short track racing alive in the Northeast.
Short track racing will continue to grow this season with all the
interest created from the ACT Invitational. Few short track drivers
get the opportunity to race at NHMS, the only track in the Northeast
on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule. This year 36 drivers will
get that rare opportunity. These 36 drivers will include the winners
of each of the first twelve 2009 ACT Tour events, the first eight
Serie ACT Castrol events and three non-point counting events; the TD
Bank Oxford 250, the Showdown at Autodrome Chaudiere and the Governors
Cup at Thunder Road. This will most likely mean more drivers will show
up to these events in the hope of qualifying for the Invitational and
a chance to race at NHMS.
Also qualifying for the Invitational will be the point leaders of the
nine racetracks previously mentioned. The opportunity to race at NHMS
should make the points battles at these racetracks even more intense
and therefore the racing even more exciting.
However, qualifying for the Invitational is not a guarantee even for
those who are leading the points at these tracks. They must not only
be 100% ACT legal, but they also have to meet experience and quality
standards as determined by ACT. These requirements will ensure that
only the highest quality teams will be at NHMS, therefore making the
ACT Invitational field one of the stoutest to ever compete in the
Northeast.
The Invitational will put more pressure on drivers to win races and
earn a chance to qualify. Veteran driver Randy Potter of Groveton, NH,
said, ?There is a lot of extra pressure on all of us to win and get
into this race. Plus there most likely will be guys who have already
run the big shows in different type cars (Busch East, Cup, etc) that
will come in with big budgets and try to “steal” some of the spots
from the full time ACT guys by winning a race.?
Five-time ACT Tour champion Brian Hoar of Williston, VT, is back full
time this season taking over the seat from Jean-Paul Cyr in the Rick
Paya machine. He says, ?I will always put a lot of pressure on myself
and my team to win races! Winning is one of the many allusive goals
that keep us coming back for more. That being said, I always look at
the big picture and realize winning is not everything.? If the past is
any indication, Hoar should have no trouble qualifying for the
Invitational. He has won at least one race in each of his full time
seasons on the ACT Late Model Tour from 1992 to 2000 and holds the
record for most wins in a season with five in 1999. He also has the
most total wins in ACT Late Model Tour history with twenty-three.
The opportunity to race at NHMS seems to be the hot topic among
drivers competing on the ACT Tour in 2009. Hoar, who has raced at NHMS
in a Busch East car, is excited to return. He continued, ?I have
always loved the place, the speed and had good results, which I hope
to add or improve to this fall. I think the Late Models will put on
an exciting race, much like the modifieds do. With the limited
horsepower and tires I think the cars will race more similar to the
mods than other divisions.?
Potter added ?I have a short ?bucket? list and one of them is to
compete at NHMS. So this is the best chance I’ll have.? But the race
at NHMS isn?t blocking his view of his main goal, ?We want to be in
contention to win multiple races this year to put ourselves in a
position in points to run for the title and all of the rest of that
qualifying stuff will take care of itself.?
The ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway will add a new
dynamic to the ACT Tour and Series ACT Castrol schedules, as well as
the ACT affiliated tracks with the opportunity to qualify.
The first qualifier will be determined at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH
on Sunday April 19th, as the ACT Tour kicks off its 2009 season with
the New Hampshire Governor?s Cup 150. A practice session is scheduled
for Saturday April 18th.
